Trial of 7 subjects resisting law enforcement officers in Nghi Thuan (Nghi Loc)
(Baonghean.vn) - On November 30, at the People's Court of Nghe An province, the People's Court of Nghi Loc district opened a first-instance trial for 7 defendants, all residing in Nghi Thuan commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An, for the act of "Resisting people on official duty".
According to the indictment: On July 13, 2022, in the residential road area connecting National Highway 7C to the hamlets of Nghi Loc district, when the construction and security forces closed the residential road passing through WHA Industrial Park, the subjects including: Bui Van Canh (born in 1978), Ha Van Hanh (born in 1980), Tran Thi Hoa (born in 1970), Tran Thi Thoa (born in 1964), Tran Thi Nien (born in 1984), Ha Thi Hien (born in 1987), Bach Thi Hoa (born in 1952), all residing in Nghi Thuan commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An, along with many other extremists, fiercely opposed and obstructed. The acts included: shouting, cursing, carrying beer crates, picking up and gathering rocks and glass bottles to place in a convenient position for the protesters to throw at the Mobile Police force protecting the construction, using hands and sickles to push the barbed wire fence to widen the road for the protesters; directly rushing in and using hands to push and continuously hit the shield of the Mobile Police force... The consequences caused 5 officers on duty to be injured and had to be treated at the hospital.

At the trial, the Trial Panel sentenced: The above acts of the 7 defendants committed the crime of "Resisting a person on official duty", the crime and punishment are prescribed in Clause 1, Article 330 of the Penal Code.
For defendant Bui Van Canh, who acted recklessly and directly attacked the forces on duty, the sentence was 1 year in prison; 8 months in prison for defendants: Ha Van Hanh, Tran Thi Hoa, Tran Thi Thoa; 6 months in prison for defendants: Ha Thi Hien and Tran Thi Nien and 4 months and 17 days in prison for defendant Bach Thi Hoa. The term of imprisonment from the date of temporary detention is July 13, 2022, so defendant Bach Thi Hoa was released immediately at today's court session.
The trial ended with the consensus and support of the majority of the people attending and had a general deterrent and educational effect./.
