Trial of subjects related to gambling case in Nghia Dan

(Baonghean.vn) - Nghia Dan District People's Court held a public trial on the case of gambling and organizing gambling against 6 subjects residing in 3 communes of Quynh Thang, Quynh Van, and Quynh Bang in Quynh Luu District.

On the morning of March 7, the People's Court of Nghia Dan district held a public trial of the case of gambling and organizing gambling against the subjects Nguyen An Truong, Nguyen Duy Vo, Ho Anh Tuan, Ho Vinh Bac, residing in Hamlet 5, Quynh Thang commune, Quynh Luu district; Dau Duc Ha residing in Hamlet 15, Quynh Van commune, Quynh Luu district; Ho Dang Hoi residing in Van Hoc hamlet, Quynh Bang commune, Quynh Luu district.

According to the indictment, on March 14, 2017, at an abandoned house in Lang Thuyen, Nghia Tho commune, Nghia Dan district, Nguyen Duy Thang, Dang Viet Tung, Dau Xuan Dung and Nguyen An Truong organized for the subjects Nguyen Dinh Chi, Ngo Xuan Truong, Doan Van Quy, Nguyen Ngoc Son, Nguyen Hong Vinh, Ho Vinh Bac, Nguyen Duy Vo, Nguyen An Thuc, Nguyen An Thuc, Nguyen An Dung, Nguyen An Linh, Ho Trong Au, Tran Cong Minh, Dau Duc Ha, Nguyen Xuan Dan, Nguyen Van Ha, Nguyen Nhat Hang, Ho Dang Toi, Ho Dang Hoi, Nguyen Hong Linh, Le Van Anh, Ho Anh Tuan to participate in gambling in the form of shaking dice.

In addition to assisting Nguyen Duy Thang in organizing gambling, Nguyen An Truong also lent Nguyen Dinh Chi 20 million VND for gambling. The total amount of money the defendants used for gambling purposes was 84,750,000 (eighty-four million seven hundred and fifty thousand VND).

Nguyen An Truong’s actions constituted two crimes: “organizing gambling” and “gambling”; Ho Anh Tuan, Ho Vinh Bac, Nguyen Duy Vo, Ho Dang Hoi, and Dau Duc Ha constituted “gambling”. The remaining defendants were tried before.

The gambling behavior of the subjects violated Clause 1, Article 249 and Clause 2, Article 248 of the Penal Code. At the trial, the defendants honestly confessed their crimes.

The jury sentenced defendant Nguyen An Truong to 6 months in prison; Dau Duc Ha to 10 months in prison; Ho Vinh Bac, Ho Anh Tuan, and Ho Dang Hoi to 6 months in prison but with suspended sentences; and Nguyen Duy Vo to 12 months of non-custodial reform.
