Fined 50 million VND for facility discharging toxic wastewater causing environmental pollution
(Baonghean.vn) - The People's Committee of Nghe An province has issued a decision to impose a fine on the violation of discharging toxic substances into the environment against the steel profile production and trading facility located in the Thap - Hong - Ky industrial cluster of Dien Chau district.

Nghe An: Discovery of facility discharging untreated wastewater into the environment
(Baonghean.vn) - A steel rolling production and trading facility located in Thap - Hong - Ky Industrial Cluster, Dien Chau District (Nghe An) was inspected by authorities and discovered to have discharged untreated wastewater directly into the environment.
As reported by baonghean.vn, in July, Dien Chau District Police discovered that a steel profile manufacturing and trading facility located in the Thap - Hong - Ky industrial cluster of Dien Chau District, owned by Mr. Luong Van Kinh (born in 1968), residing in the South block of Dien Hong Commune, had discharged a large amount of wastewater into the environment outside the facility's production area.

This is a chemical discharged during the steel production process, visually showing that untreated corrosive acid wastewater has long been discharged into the environment, seeping into the ground. Mr. Luong Van Kinh, the owner of the facility, also admitted that the wastewater had not been treated.

Dien Chau District Police coordinated with the Provincial Technical and Environmental One Member Co., Ltd. to take samples for testing and concluded that the wastewater discharged from the steel production facility into the environment had a PH parameter of 0.057, exceeding the permissible threshold, directly affecting the environment.
With that level of danger, on August 1, 2019, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 2945/QD-UBND to impose an administrative penalty of 50 million VND and required the facility to be responsible for remedying the consequences within 30 days.
