Yen Thanh: Implementing the plan to protect, develop forests and PCCCR

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 9, Yen Thanh District People's Committee held a conference to review the work of forest protection, development and fire prevention and fighting in 2014 and deploy the plan for 2015.

Conference overview.

In 2014, the complicated weather conditions had a significant impact on the management, protection, development of forest capital and fire prevention and control in the area. The district forest protection command directed the functional forces to closely coordinate with the authorities and people in the localities with forests, so the management and protection of forests were effectively maintained. Through inspection, control and information from the people, the district forest protection department handled 4 cases of violations of forestry laws, confiscated nearly 2 cubic meters of wood, and contributed more than 24 million VND to the budget. In 2014, there were two forest fires in the communes of My Thanh, Cong Thanh and Bao Thanh due to the spread of fire from forest fires in Thuong Son Do Luong commune, causing damage to nearly 4 hectares of pine and acacia forests. Fire prevention and control work was deployed promptly, however, due to the hot weather and the severity of the fire, a village team leader was sacrificed.

Faced with complicated weather developments, forecasts of prolonged heat and drought, Yen Thanh district has also deployed a number of key tasks in the work of protecting, developing forest capital and forest fire prevention and control in 2015. Accordingly, the district has strengthened the propaganda and dissemination of the Party and State's policies and laws in the field of forest protection and development, especially forest fire prevention and control measures in the dry season; stepped up patrolling and control activities to effectively prevent violations of the law on forest protection and development; closely coordinated between functional forces with localities, forest owners and the masses to preserve and develop forest resources in the area.

Leaders of Yen Thanh district awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and certificates of merit from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to collectives and individuals with achievements in fire prevention and control work in 2014.

At the conference, the leaders of Yen Thanh district also awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee to two individuals with outstanding achievements in forest fire prevention and control in 2014; and certificates of merit from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Chairman of Yen Thanh District People's Committee to five groups and five individuals with achievements in forest protection, development and forest fire prevention and control in 2014.
