12 years in prison for HIV-infected subject trafficking in illegal drugs
(Baonghean.vn) - Dien Chau District People's Court conducted a mobile trial against defendant Lu Van Tuat for illegally trafficking 29.8 grams of heroin.

According to the indictment, Lu Van Tuat (born in 1982), residing in Con Cuong district, is HIV-infected. While returning to Dien Chau to get ARV drugs (drugs to treat HIV-infected patients), Tuat contacted a person named Thuan in Dien Chau district to trade heroin.
In early January 2017, Thuan ordered Tuat 8 chi of drugs equivalent to 29.8 grams. Tuat bought it in Tuong Duong for 16 million VND and then took a bus from his house to Dien Chau to deliver the drugs.
While carrying out the act of buying and selling with Thuan in Dien Chau town, Lu Van Tuat was caught red-handed by Dien Chau police, confiscated 29.8 grams of heroin, but Thuan managed to escape in time.
At the trial, defendant Tuat confessed to all his crimes. The People's Court of Dien Chau district sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
On the same day, June 7, the People's Court of Dien Chau district held a public trial of four cases including illegal drug trafficking, property theft, and gambling with a total sentence of more than 18 years in prison.
