20 district hospitals and medical centers in Nghe An will be satellites of provincial hospitals.
(Baonghean.vn) - 20 hospitals, district and town medical centers and the Southwest Regional General Hospital will be satellite hospitals of 5 provincial hospitals and Vinh City General Hospital.
On the afternoon of April 22, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to listen to and give opinions on the Project to build and develop satellite hospitals in the period of 2019 - 2025 in Nghe An province. Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting.

In recent times, medical examination and treatment in Nghe An have achieved many important achievements. In addition to the efforts of hospitals, these achievements are thanks to the activities of receiving and transferring advanced technology from Central hospitals under Project 1816 and the Satellite Hospital Project of the Ministry of Health.
The number of medical examinations in Nghe An increased by an average of 3.5% per year in the period 2013-2018. In 2018, the number of medical examinations reached 5.8 million people, inpatient treatment reached over 618,000 people and over 119,000 surgeries of all kinds.
Along with the achievements, Nghe An healthcare still faces many difficulties: Medical capacity among levels and regions is not uniform; many district-level units have not met the people's medical examination and treatment needs; bypassing medical examination and treatment lines is quite common...
This reality requires improving the quality of medical examination and treatment at the grassroots level. The construction of satellite hospitals in Nghe An province is an effective, positive and very necessary solution.

Contribute to reducing hospital overload
The draft Project on building and developing satellite hospitals for the period 2019 - 2025 in Nghe An province drafted by the Department of Health identifies: The core hospitals are the Provincial Friendship General Hospital, the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, the Vinh City General Hospital, the Oncology Hospital, and the Nghe An Endocrinology Hospital. The satellite hospitals are 20 hospitals, medical centers in 20 districts, towns and the Southwest Regional General Hospital.
In the period of 2019 - 2020, the core hospitals will deploy to satellite hospitals a number of basic specialties including: emergency, pediatrics, surgery, trauma, cardiology, obstetrics and endocrinology. In the period of 2021 - 2025, the core hospitals will maintain periodic support activities for the transferred technical packages and expand the technical packages depending on the actual requirements of each locality.

At the meeting, the participating departments, agencies and sectors gave their opinions on the Project. In his concluding remarks, comrade Le Minh Thong welcomed the proactive spirit of the Department of Health in developing the project. When it was approved, Nghe An became the first province in the country to issue this project.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated: The project to build and develop satellite hospitals in the period of 2019 - 2025 in Nghe An province is very necessary. This is a concrete step to implement Resolution 20 of the Politburo on strengthening the work of protecting, caring for and improving people's health in the new situation; contributing practically to solving the problem of reducing hospital overload.
Comrade Le Minh Thong requested the Department of Health to complete the project and collect more comments from departments, branches and sectors before submitting it to the Provincial People's Committee for approval./.
