The outbreak began after the floods in early September. According to Mr. Cao Dinh Minh - Director of Dien Chau District Medical Center, the first case was detected on September 8. "Currently, 4 patients have completed treatment, while 19 others are still in the hospital," Mr. Minh said, adding that the unit has also advised the district to issue an emergency plan to prevent and control dengue fever.
Dengue fever is an acute infectious disease that can cause epidemics caused by the Dengue virus. The disease is spread when Aedes mosquitoes bite infected people and then transmit the disease to healthy people through their bites. The disease occurs year-round but often breaks out into large epidemics during the rainy season, especially in the months of July, August, September, and October.
Currently, there is no specific treatment for the disease and no vaccine to prevent it. The disease often causes large epidemics with many people infected at the same time, making treatment extremely difficult. It can cause death, especially in children, causing great economic and social damage.
