5 family members went robbing each other at midnight
Two out of five suspects involved in the robbery knew the victim and had lent him money during difficult times.
On July 9, Phu Tan District Police (Ca Mau Province) said they were detaining 5 people in a family who robbed an acquaintance.
According to the police, at around 1:40 a.m. on July 7, Mr. NHH (70 years old) and his wife, Mrs. PTL (residing in Luoi Tay hamlet, Nguyen Viet Khai commune, Phu Tan district) were sleeping when a group of masked men broke in, restrained them, caused injuries, and robbed them of their property, including 5 taels of 24K gold, 1 mobile phone, and more than 20 million VND.

Upon receiving the report, Phu Tan District Police directed a patrol team to quickly approach the scene and collect information. At the same time, mobilized forces to conduct tracing.
During the pursuit, the task force discovered a suspicious vehicle running towards Cai Doi Vam town (about 10 km from the robbery site) so they asked to stop the vehicle for inspection.
However, the boat driver fled. Immediately, the task force surrounded and approached the vehicle, controlled it, arrested it and brought it to the headquarters for questioning.
At the police station, the group gave their names as TTN (36 years old), TTP (42 years old), HCH (33 years old), HVX (45 years old, all residing in Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau) and TCT (29 years old, residing in Khanh Hung commune, Tran Van Thoi district). Of which, TCT has 2 previous convictions for theft of property and 1 previous conviction for intentional injury.

Notably, these 5 suspects are members of the same family. P. and H. are husband and wife; HCH and HVX are 2 younger siblings. TTP, TTN, TCT are 3 sisters.
According to the suspects' statements, knowing that the victim had property, P. and H. invited their family members to join in robbing the property and taking money to spend. After reaching an agreement, the group discussed and assigned tasks during the robbery.
H. and P. knew the victim couple before and had lent them money during difficult times.
The case is currently being investigated by Phu Tan District Police.
