57 households in Yen Thanh are isolated by floodwaters.
(Baonghean.vn) - Heavy rain from July 13 to 18, along with floodwaters from upstream, caused widespread flooding in low-lying communes in Yen Thanh district. In addition to 4,000 hectares of rice and many aquaculture areas being submerged, in the past two days, some residential areas have also been isolated by floodwaters.

In Xuan Thanh commune, 57 households in Minh Xuan hamlet have been isolated for the past few days. Accordingly, 197 people are currently unable to travel because the inter-commune road passing through the area and the inter-village road are flooded; the deepest point is up to 2 meters, and the average level is 1.5 meters.
In particular, 10 households living along the fields had water 50-70 cm deep entering their houses, making it difficult for them to do daily activities.

Mr. Nguyen Canh Tai - Head of Minh Xuan hamlet said that 10 households whose houses were flooded, most of them with small children, had to be evacuated from the flooded area and taken to relatives' houses for temporary shelter; their assets, food reserves and household items were placed high up to ensure safety. The floodwaters flooded 14 hectares of summer-autumn rice in the hamlet that was in the ear-filling stage; hundreds of poultry were also swept away by the floodwaters.

Mr. Le Van Hai - Chairman of Xuan Thanh Commune People's Committee said that in addition to 57 households in Minh Xuan hamlet being isolated, out of the total area of 351 hectares of summer-autumn rice of the commune, up to 250 hectares are deeply submerged in water, most likely to be lost. If it does not rain, it will take 4-5 days for the water to recede.
Currently, the local government is mobilizing militia and self-defense forces, strong platoons to help people raise their property and move their livestock to high places. At the same time, solutions are being deployed to ensure the safety of people's lives, especially to prevent drowning of children, ensure safety of the power grid and pay attention to policy families, the elderly, and households with difficult circumstances.

Due to living with the flood, many households have prepared boats for transportation. The commune has provided 4 aluminum boats for the hamlet to supply food, provisions and essential necessities; absolutely not allowing hunger and encouraging people to support and help each other during the days of isolation due to flood.
