6 tips to renovate your bedroom to help you sleep better

If you’re having trouble sleeping, you might want to give your bedroom a makeover. Here are a few tips that could transform your eight hours of rest.

Repaint the room walls

According to the National Sleep Foundation, blue has the strongest effect on your mood – helping you sleep better. Don’t like blue? A cool neutral color like gray or silver will do.

Use soft light

Instead of a standard floor lamp that is too bright at bedtime, you can use a small table lamp. Or small candles with scents like vanilla or lavender can also help you fall asleep faster.

Make use of curtains

The darker the room, the deeper you sleep. Invest in some blackout curtains, which will turn your room into a virtual cave, so you won’t be disturbed by the early morning light.

Change the bed sheets

Turns out, fabric plays a big role in how well you sleep. Ditch synthetic sheets like polyester or nylon and go for something cooler, softer, and more breathable, like 100% cotton sheets.

Have an extra single blanket

Depending on the time of year, your cotton may be too thin and your eiderdown may be too warm. Instead of tossing and turning between hot and cold all night, get a single comforter that allows you to adjust the temperature as you sleep.

Choose a new pillow

If your pillow has yellow stains or “unknown” stains, it is past its prime. In addition to hygiene reasons, you should also remove unstable, uneven pillows every year to have a good night’s sleep as well as to give your neck maximum support to minimize related diseases.
