In 2016, Khanh packed his bags and went to Dak Nong to work for ornamental plant farms, learning experience in planting and caring for ornamental plants; finding a type of tree suitable for the soil and climate in his locality to start a business later.
After a period of working, learning experience and researching the market, Khanh realized that in Dak Nong there were hundreds of hectares of flowers of all kinds, but the area for growing trees for leaves to decorate fresh flower bouquets was still rare.
Among them, French fern has many outstanding advantages such as easy cultivation, does not require much technique, does not depend on time, can be harvested early or late and has a stable price... From that idea, he decided to contact and find a source of fern seeds to plant on his family's ineffective sugarcane land.

In May 2018, he boldly converted 200 square meters of ineffective sugarcane land to grow French ferns in a greenhouse with a total initial investment of nearly 120 million VND.
The soil used to grow ferns is red basalt soil, mixed with coconut fiber and burnt rice husks, then composted for 3 weeks to 1 month before being put into the beds for sowing. From sowing to harvesting, it takes 5-6 months. On average, French ferns have a lifespan of 7-10 years. On average, a tree is harvested twice a month. Currently, a fern leaf costs from 1-3 thousand VND and all of his family's products have been directly purchased by the seed supplier in Dak Nong province.
Recently, at the contest "Nghe An province's innovation and start-up 2018", the project of growing French ferns using greenhouse technology by Mr. Nguyen Huu Khanh was selected by the Center for Science, Technology and Young Talents of the Central Youth Union, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union to support 50% of seeds, automatic irrigation system, ventilation fans, gutters and transfer of science and technology...
