(Baonghean.vn) - In debt, Que agreed to transport drugs for a mother and son in Que Phong. On the way to "carry" heroin to the North, Que was caught red-handed and sentenced to death.

The High People's Court in Hanoi has just opened an appeal hearing for the case of "Illegal transportation of substances"drug" at the People's Court of Nghe An province against defendant Truong Ngoc Que (born 1995), residing in Hung Dung ward, Vinh city.

According to the indictment, from October 30 to November 5, 2020, Que transported 20 heroin cakes from Que Phong to Nam Dinh City twice for Truong Thanh Huyen (born in 1976, residing in Kim Son town, Que Phong) for a salary of 5 million VND/cake.

This is the amount of drugs that Huyen agreed to transport for a man named Dai (unknown background) for a salary of 8 million VND/cake. Also participating in transporting drugs with Que was Huyen's son, Lo Long Truong (born in 2000).

The first time, Huyen called her son and told him to take Que to pick up the drugs to take to the North. On the afternoon of October 30, 2020, after taking a car to Que Phong district, Truong and Que each received a motorbike that Huyen had prepared. Huyen told them to "stop when you see fresh branches left on the side of the road to receive the "goods".

Truong led the way for Que to follow on a motorbike. When they arrived at the designated location, Que stopped the motorbike and received 8 heroin bricks. After that, Que took a bus to Nam Dinh to deliver the drugs to the customer according to Truong's instructions. During this transport, Que was paid 40 million VND by Huyen.

The second time, at noon on November 5, 2020, after receiving the "contract" to transport 12 heroin cakes for a salary of 100 million VND, Huyen told her son to bring Que to receive the task. Using the same method as the previous time, after receiving 12 heroin cakes, Que took a bus to Nam Dinh to deliver the "goods".

However, when arriving at Truong Banh intersection, Tien Phong commune, Truong Ngoc Que was arrested by the police with the evidence.

Based on Que's testimony, the police arrested Truong Thi Huyen and Lo Long Truong, mother and son. The investigation agency determined that the defendants Huyen, Truong, and Que were responsible for transporting more than 7.1 kg of drugs.

The court of first instance sentenced Truong Thi Huyen and Truong Ngoc Que to death, and defendant Lo Long Truong received a life sentence.

Defendant Que then appealed for a reduced sentence. At the appeal hearing, the defendant stated that he was the only son in the family and agreed to transport drugs for Huyen and her mother because of debt. The defendant asked the panel of judges to consider a reduced sentence to find a chance to live.

The defendant’s defense attorney presented several details such as after being arrested, Que proactively confessed to transporting 8 heroin cakes earlier. Thanks to Que’s public statement, the investigation agency quickly solved the case and arrested Huyen and her mother.

The defendant's parents are directly worshiping martyrs, the family has relatives who are veteran revolutionary cadres, the defendant has a good personal history, confessed honestly... to ask the court to reduce the sentence for Que.

The Court of Appeal determined that in this case, defendant Que had acted actively and the amount of drugs transported was exceptionally large. Therefore, the court rejected the appeal and upheld the death sentence for defendant Truong Ngoc Que./.
