Arrested 9x specializing in stealing ornamental plants to sell
(Baonghean.vn) - Taking advantage of heavy rain and strong winds, with few people passing by, Hoan single-handedly dug up trees in the cemetery of Luu Son commune - Do Luong, then brought them home and hid them in his garden, waiting for an opportunity to sell them.
On July 30, Do Luong District Police said that the unit is temporarily detaining Nguyen Cong Hoan, born in 1992, residing in Hamlet 5, Trung Son Commune, to investigate the act of property theft.
Recently, in Do Luong district, there have been many cases of theft of valuable ornamental plants, causing public outrage. Do Luong district police have established a special project to investigate and clarify the matter.

After a period of synchronous use of professional measures, on July 27, 2021, Do Luong District Police successfully broke the case, arresting Nguyen Cong Hoan (born in 1992, residing in Hamlet 5 - Trung Son), the subject who caused 03 cases of ornamental plant theft in Do Luong district.
During the arrest of Nguyen Cong Hoan, the police seized a bougainvillea tree about 2 meters high, with a base circumference of more than 80 cm, with 3 large branches from the base; a motorbike, a handsaw, a flashlight and a hoe.

At the police station, suspect Hoan confessed: On the afternoon of July 19, 2021, when passing by the cemetery of Luu Son commune, Do Luong district, he saw a large, beautiful bougainvillea tree worth more than 30 million VND, so he had the idea of stealing it to sell for money. That evening, taking advantage of the heavy rain and strong wind, with few people passing by, Hoan alone dug up the tree and brought it home to hide in his garden, waiting for an opportunity to sell it. However, before finding a buyer, Nguyen Cong Hoan was arrested.
It is known that Hoan is very passionate about bonsai and often collects valuable plants to grow and sell.
Previously, on July 12, 2021, Nghi Loc District Police also arrested 03 subjects who caused 05 cases of ornamental plant theft in Nghi Loc district, Cua Lo town, Vinh city, with a total value of over 100 million VND. They are: Ho Xuan Loc (born in 1983) and Nguyen Van Lac (born in 1995), both residing in Nghi Kieu commune; Nguyen Van Tuan (born in 1987), residing in Nghi Thach commune, Nghi Loc district. Among these subjects, Ho Xuan Loc is the mastermind.
Authorities recommend: To minimize the theft of ornamental plants, it is necessary for people to raise their awareness. Families should not place high-value ornamental plants on sidewalks, corridors, or roadsides. There should be solutions to protect fixed plants such as iron frames, iron chains, etc. Compact ornamental plants such as orchids, flower baskets, plant baskets, etc. should be brought to a safe area when away.
