Former primary school teacher in Nghe An arrested for cross-border drug trafficking

In early April 2020, through investigation, the Ky Son District Police (Nghe An) discovered a subject who frequently traveled across the border with Laos to illegally buy and sell drugs. A special project was established to combat this.

Persistently monitoring, at about 20:30 on April 12, Ky Son District Police coordinated with Nam Can International Border Gate Border Guard Station and the working group of Muong Xen Town Police (Ky Son) to successfully break the case; caught red-handed Loc Van Thanh (born in 1976), residing in Block 4, Muong Xen Town, Ky Son for illegal possession of drugs. Confiscated nearly 80 grams of heroin and 200 synthetic drug pills, 01 mobile phone and some other evidence.

At the investigation agency, Loc Van Thanh confessed to buying the above drugs from Lao people for his own use as well as selling them to other addicts for profit.

It is known that the subject has 2 previous convictions for drugs and used to be an elementary school teacher but quit his job due to addiction. The case is currently under further investigation./.
