Arrested 4 young men who committed 33 thefts and robberies

On the morning of October 27, the Nghi Loc District Police Department announced that the unit had just successfully broken up a case to combat theft and robbery crimes, arresting 4 subjects, including: Dang Van Tien (born 1999), residing in Quan Hanh town; Hoang Van Thang (born 1999); Truong Van Tri (born 2003); Nguyen Van Luu (born 2001), all residing in Nghi Van commune, Nghi Loc district, for the act oftheftassets androbbery.

Previously, from the beginning of September 2020 until now, in Nghi Loc district and neighboring districts such as Hung Nguyen, Do Luong, Yen Thanh... there have been frequent cases of dog theft and property loss in people's homes.

The subjects often split into pairs, using motorbikes carrying homemade electric guns, snake skins, knives, glass bottles, etc. to travel throughout the district and outside. When they see dogs running free, the subjects immediately approach and use electric guns to capture them. At the same time, when they detect any careless house, they will break in to steal property, even rob it. If they are discovered and chased by the people, the subjects use the weapons they carry to fight back fiercely to escape.

Typically, at around 8:00 p.m. on September 19, 2020, Ms. Phan Thi Luyen (born in 1986), residing in Hamlet 8 + 9, Nghi Van Commune, was lying down watching her phone in her house when suddenly a masked young man broke into the house, used both hands to control her, covered her face and robbed the phone worth about 5 million VND that Ms. Luyen was holding in her hand. Then, at around 10:00 p.m. on October 16, 2020, a thief broke into the Le family church in Hamlet 5A, Nghi Van Commune and stole a safe containing more than 10 million VND.

Considering that the subjects are mobile, their criminal behavior is reckless, disregards the law and causes panic and anxiety among the people, the leaders of Nghi Loc District Police established a special project to combat them.

At about 6:00 a.m. on October 23, Nghi Loc District Police presided over and coordinated with Hung Nguyen District Police and Yen Phong Industrial Park Police Station in Yen Phong District, Bac Ninh Province to successfully crack the case. Initially, 4 suspects were arrested, including Tien, Thang, Tri and Luu mentioned above. The seized exhibits included 3 dogs with a total weight of 75 kg, 5 snake skins, 1 homemade electric gun, 2 motorbikes, 5 mobile phones, 2 safes that were damaged by the suspects and other related evidence.

At the investigation agency, the subjects initially confessed that from the beginning of September 2020 until now, they have committed more than 30 cases of dog theft, property theft and 3 cases of property robbery in the areas of Hung Nguyen and Nghi Loc. The total value of the stolen and robbed assets is approximately 200 million VND. Of which, they committed a safe theft at the Le family church in hamlet 5A, Nghi Van commune on the evening of October 16, taking 10 million VND; a phone robbery of Ms. Phan Thi Luyen on the evening of September 19; 01 case of car battery theft in Nghi Van commune in 2019.

Before committing the crime, the subjects all planned in detail, meticulously regarding the means and time. The subjects chose the time to commit the crime at night to avoid detection by the police and to flee the area after committing the crime. These subjects were drug addicts, very reckless in the process of committing the crime.

Currently, Nghi Loc District Police continue to investigate and expand the case, arrest the remaining subjects and consolidate the case file to strictly handle the subjects according to the provisions of law.
