Arrest of a woman transporting many rare animal products

Many rare wildlife products were discovered in the personal luggage of a 62-year-old woman.

Three leopard skins were shipped to Vietnam.

The Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch under the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department has just coordinated with functional forces to detect the illegal transportation of 4kg of cut ivory and many rare wildlife products.

The passenger was a 62-year-old woman, Vietnamese nationality, entering Vietnam on a flight from Africa.

This woman illegally transported nearly 4kg of cut ivory, 9 elephant tails, many types of claws and especially 3 skins of African clouded leopards (a rare species listed in the Red Book that needs to be protected). The total value of the confiscated items is estimated at more than 2 billion VND.

This subject cleverly hid the above goods in personal luggage and household items to avoid the authorities.

However, through professional reconnaissance and information gathering measures, the customs agency promptly detected and prevented the above incident.
