Arrest of primary school principal in mountainous district of Ky Son

On February 22, speaking to a reporter from Nghe An Newspaper, Lieutenant Colonel To Van Hau - Head of Ky Son District Police said that the unit had just prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Ha Tham Canh (44 years old, residing in Ta Ca commune), Principal of Ta Ca Primary Boarding School (Ky Son district). Mr. Canh was arrested to investigate 2 crimes of "Embezzlement of property" and "Abusing position and power while performing official duties".

According to Lieutenant Colonel Hau, the unit had previously received a complaint from a citizen about the appropriation of sponsored gifts, flood relief donations and some other violations during his time as principal. During the investigation, the Ky Son District Police initially determined that Mr. Canh had committed "Embezzlement of property" with an amount of more than 147.5 million VND. Regarding the act of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties", Mr. Canh illegally collected more than 76.6 million VND from students in the 2021-2022 school year, of which he illegally appropriated more than 50.6 million VND.

The leader of Ky Son District Police said that during the investigation, the police determined that Mr. Canh's wrongdoings were assisted by a number of other individuals. Therefore, the police are still investigating and expanding this case.
