Arrested thief turns out to be a drug addict storing drugs

On June 3, Quy Hop District Police said they had coordinated with Chau Thanh Commune Police to arrest Ha Van Son (born in 1999), residing in Ban Cai, Chau Thanh Commune (Quy Hop).and Lo Van Thong (born 2000), residing in Ban Bang, Chau Quang commune (Quy Hop) for the acts of "Illegal possession of drugs" and "theft of property".

Previously, on the morning of May 27, 2021, Chau Thanh Commune Police received a report from Ms. Vi Thi Thanh (born in 1979), residing in Ban Cai hamlet, Chau Thanh commune (Quy Hop), reporting the incident: On the morning of the same day, Ms. Thanh discovered that she wasintruderbroke into the house and stole 35.2 million VND, 1 tael of gold and some other items.

Immediately after receiving the news, Chau Thanh Commune Police quickly reported to the leaders of Quy Hop District Police and coordinated with the Criminal - Economic - Drug Crime Investigation Police Team of the District Police to investigate, establish a special project to fight, clarify, and recover assets to return to the people.

Using professional measures, Quy Hop District Police have checked and discovered two suspects, Ha Van Son (born in 1999), residing in Ban Cai, Chau Thanh Commune and Lo Van Thong (born in 2000), residing in Ban Bang, Chau Quang Commune, who showed many suspicious signs of property theft and drug use.

After collecting sufficient evidence, at about 10:00 p.m. on June 1, 2021, in Hoa Thanh hamlet, Chau Quang commune (Quy Hop), the working group of Quy Hop district police caught two subjects Ha Van Son and Lo Van Thong red-handed for the act of "Illegal possession of narcotics", confiscating two plastic bags containing 2.3 grams of heroin from Son and Thong.

At the Investigation Agency, faced with undeniable evidence, the subjects bowed their heads and admitted their guilt; accordingly, Ha Van Son confessed that he broke into the house of Ms. Vi Thi Thanh (from the same village) on the night of May 26, 2021 to steal 35.2 million VND and 1 tael of gold; he was addicted to drugs, and due to lack of money, he "took a risk" and broke into his neighbor's house to steal property. During a search of the residence of the two subjects, the Investigation Agency seized 1 tael of gold and more than 35 million VND in cash.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Quy Hop District Police has decided to temporarily detain 2 subjects to continue investigating the case and handle the subjects according to the provisions of law./.
