(Baonghean.vn) - Raiding a private house in Hamlet 15, Nghi Phu Commune (Vinh City, Nghe An), the police caught Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son red-handed receiving bribes from 7 street vendors in front of the gate of Nghe An General Hospital.

On the morning of August 20, the Vinh City Police Department announced that they were temporarily detaining Nguyen Ngoc Son - Deputy Head of the Urban Regulation Team of Nghi Phu Commune (Vinh City) for accepting bribes.

Previously, on August 14, at the private home of Nguyen Ngoc Son (born in 1962) in Hamlet 15, Nghi Phu Commune, the police caught Mr. Son red-handed accepting bribes from 7 people. These people were running a street vendor stall in front of the gate of Nghe An General Hospital.

According to Vinh City Police, in recent times, traffic safety and urban order in the area in front of Nghe An General Hospital have become complicated. The situation of encroachment on sidewalks and traffic safety corridors for trading and business has caused disorder in traffic safety and urban order, affecting the aesthetics as well as the operation of the hospital.

Many street vendors in front of the Provincial General Hospital bribed Mr. Son to avoid being prosecuted.

Through the work of grasping the situation as well as receiving complaints from people, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son, although being the Deputy Head of the Nghi Phu Commune Urban Regulation Team, received money from street vendors to protect them so that they could continue to sell their goods here.

After receiving the money, Mr. Son checked but only perfunctorily, without any handling measures.

At the police station, Mr. Son admitted his crime. Mr. Son stated that from November 2015 until now, he has received monthly money from about 20 business people here to avoid dealing with them.

The investigation agency found that Mr. Son's bribery behavior was prolonged, causing bad public opinion, causing resentment among the people, affecting the reputation of the authorities, and affecting traffic safety and order.

It is known that Mr. Son has many years of experience working at the People's Committee of Nghi Phu commune. From 2004 to 2013, Mr. Son was the Captain of the Nghi Phu commune urban regulations team. From 2013 until his arrest, he was the Deputy Captain of the Nghi Phu commune urban regulations team.

Currently, the investigation agency is detaining Mr. Son to serve the investigation, expand the case as well as clarify the amount of money Mr. Son received from street vendors.
