Reporting to the Provincial Party Secretary, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Nghia Hieu said: Dien Thuy and Dien Thanh sluices serve the drainage of Dien Chau and Yen Thanh districts. However, Dien Thanh sluice is under construction under JICA capital with a total investment of 120 billion VND, so the drainage task is currently carried out by Dien Thuy sluice.
Therefore, in the past two days (July 15 and 16), Dien Thuy sluice has opened all 3 gates to drain water. As for Dien Thanh, in case of heavy rain over 300mm combined with water level over 1.5, the dike will be removed to drain water into the sea.

Regarding the response to storm No. 2 in the whole province, the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development added: Nearly 4,000 fishing boats in the province have returned to safe anchorage. Currently, the peak is more than 90,000 summer-autumn and winter-spring rice crops being prepared for farming. Therefore, to prevent flooding, during the two days (July 15 and 16), when the tide receded, the drainage sluices were opened to release water from the fields to welcome the rain.
