Nghe An Border Guard inspects storm response work No. 3 in coastal localities

To proactively respond to storm No. 3, on the morning of September 6, a working delegation of the Provincial Border Guard Command led by Colonel Nguyen Cong Luc - Commander inspected and directed the response to storm No. 3 at units and coastal localities of Nghe An.

At Lach Quen Fishing Port (Quynh Luu), the leaders of the Provincial Border Guard Command requested officers and soldiers of Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station to increase their forces to coordinate with local authorities to arrange and anchor fishermen's boats to ensure safety and prevent fires, explosions, and collisions.

Lach Quen fishing port is one of the seven fishing ports in Nghe An included in the national master plan, aiming to meet the needs of anchoring and fishing logistics services. After completing the upgrade, expansion and putting into use, Lach Quen fishing port (Quynh Thuan commune, Quynh Luu district) can meet the needs of anchoring, avoiding and sheltering from storms for 500 - 700 ships and boats of local fishermen.

According to the report of Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station, up to now, the work of responding, preventing and fightingstorm number 3The unit has been prepared by the locality according to the motto "4 on-site, 3 ready", the unit has also sent working groups led by comrades in the station's Command Board directly to the localities, coordinating with local Party committees and authorities to organize anchoring, tying, and supporting ships, boats and houses; deploying patrol vehicles along river mouths and inlets, conducting inspections and propaganda for fishermen and households raising aquatic and seafood products to move ashore to ensure absolute safety during storms...

Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station has also coordinated with local coastal communes to prepare locations such as cultural houses and schools to serve as places to receive people taking shelter from storms according to the scenario of evacuating residential areas, in case of rising sea levels.

Next, the delegation inspected the Dien Thanh Border Guard Station. According to the report of Dien Thanh Border Guard Station, the unit mobilized forces to propagate and call on people to move their vehicles from Dien Thanh culvert to the anchorage area to avoid and take shelter from the storm in Dien Kim commune to ensure safety. Along with that, deployed forces to the localities to coordinate to help people tie down their houses and trim trees to avoid falling.

The delegation also inspected the response work to storm No. 3 at the Border Guard Station of Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port. The unit organized propaganda for 47 fish cage owners in Nghi Quang and Nghi Thiet communes (Nghi Loc) to grasp the storm situation, reinforce and move the cages to safe locations.

In Cua Lo town, there are 218 ships/1,148 workers, 212 ships/1,078 workers have been called to safely anchor ashore. Propaganda was organized for 55 fish cage owners in Nghi Tan and Nghi Thuy wards (Cua Lo town) to grasp the storm situation, reinforce and move the cages to safe locations.

To ensure safety and readiness to respond to storm No. 3, the Nghe An Border Guard Command requires units to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the above directives, orders, and telegrams. Especially the telegram No. 35 dated September 5, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on prohibiting ships from going to sea during storm No. 3; plans and directive telegrams ofNghe An Border Guard Commandand local authorities on storm prevention and control No. 3. Maintain strict on-duty regime, ready forces and means to handle situations that arise.

Along with that, focus on understanding the developments and direction of the storm, organize 24/24 hours on duty. Coordinate with the authorities and militias of coastal wards and communes to deploy forces and means to organize patrols and controls, combine propaganda for fishermen to strictly comply with regulations on flood and storm prevention, participate in helping people to tie up, move, arrange vehicles and cages to safe locations.

At the same time, review, inspect, and supplement plans and strategies for responding to natural disasters and search and rescue in accordance with the local conditions of the unit in charge; proactively coordinate closely with relevant forces, promote the "4 on-the-spot" motto to promptly and effectively respond to natural disasters, accidents, and search and rescue situations caused by storm No. 3.
