(Baonghean.vn) - The Ministry of Transport received a petition from voters of Tam Thai commune, Tuong Duong district (Nghe An) regarding flooding on National Highway 7A passing through the area.
The content of the proposal is as follows:“The section of National Highway 7A from Na Coi field to the Na Tong village intersection, Tam Thai commune, Tuong Duong district, is frequently flooded, causing traffic jams and the risk of flooding houses. Voters recommend solutions to overcome this situation.
Reply:
The section of National Highway 7 that voters reported from Na Coi field to Na Tong village intersection, Tam Thai commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province has a route from K141+800-Km142+350, on the right side of the route there are residents living, a trapezoidal longitudinal ditch has been arranged, on the left side of the route is a rectangular drainage ditch (Km141+950 -Km142+150) followed by fields, with a box culvert with a 1m aperture arranged at Km142+230.
When it rains and floods, water from the mountainside flows down.vWith a large flow, concentrated at Km142+100 (left of the route), it overflows across the road, then immediately recedes. The section from Km142+100 - Km142+350 is a low-lying point, located in a water gathering area, with a lower road surface elevation than the two ends of the route. During times of heavy rain, water from various places flows into the longitudinal ditch and cannot drain in time, causing water to overflow the road surface and localized flooding in a short period of time.

To overcome the above-mentioned localized flooding situation, the Vietnam Road Administration has assigned the Road Management Department II to coordinate with the People's Committee of Tuong Duong district, Tuong Duong district police, and Joint Stock Company 495 (the unit performing regular maintenance) to inspect the scene and propose solutions.
At the request of the Field Inspection Team, the Vietnam Road Administration has directed the Road Administration Department II to request the Publicty Joint Stock Company 495 arranged machinery to level the high ground from Km142+200 - Km142+300 on the left side of the route so that when it rains heavily, water can drain naturally into the fields. Regularly check and clean the longitudinal drainage system and cross-drainage to ensure drainage flow of the area.
At the same time, urgently propose solutions to handle the flooding situation on National Highway 7 mentioned above, to arrange funding for implementation in the annual maintenance plan.2023.
The Ministry of Transport also requested the People's Committee of Tam Thai commune to propagate and disseminate to people to raise awareness of environmental sanitation, not to dump garbage into ditches and sewers causing blockage of water flow and to remove bamboo pole fences on the left side of the route, and at the same time strictly handle cases of violations of road safety corridors.
