Ministry of Foreign Affairs works with the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee on international integration and local foreign affairs

On the afternoon of February 20, a working delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Comrade Bui Thanh Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs worked with the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee on international integration and local foreign affairs.

Implementing the foreign policy of the 13th Party Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs determined the motto of "pioneering", economic diplomacy serving development as the "central" task, cultural diplomacy along with other tasks such as work with overseas Vietnamese, foreign information, citizen protection, and training as important tasks of the whole sector.

Aiming for “comprehensive and modern diplomacy”, units within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the network of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad always identify people, localities and businesses as the center of service.

Therefore, the working session between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation and the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee is very important. This is an opportunity for the province to look back at the achievements, difficulties and shortcomings in implementing local foreign affairs, socio-economic development and international integration.

At the same time, taking advantage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' professional guidance, orientation, and experience sharing, in order to supplement more appropriate and effective solutions on border and territorial management; attracting investment, especially attracting foreign direct investment; how to approach development investment funds; making the most of new-generation free trade agreements and trade agreements to which Vietnam is a member to bring Nghe An's products deeper into the national and international supply chain.

Thereby, enhancing the capacity for socio-economic development associated with ensuring national defense and security, expanding foreign relations in the new situation, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Party Congress at all levels, bringing Nghe An to develop rapidly and sustainably. This is also an opportunity for Nghe An to introduce its potentials and advantages to the world; Nghe An products are participating in supply chains.

In his welcoming speech, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy expressed his pleasure to welcome Minister Bui Thanh Son and the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work in Nghe An. Emphasizing the significance of the meeting, the head of the Provincial Party Committee hoped that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would provide guidance, share, coordinate and support to help the province develop more quickly and sustainably.

At the meeting, Minister Bui Thanh Son and the working delegation heard a report on some outstanding results of the province's socio-economic development in 2022.

Accordingly, the economy recovered and developed quite comprehensively in all sectors and fields. The cultural and social fields achieved many positive results, social security work was ensured. Administrative reform and improvement of the investment and business environment continued to receive attention and promotion. National defense, security, order and social safety were ensured.

Nghe An has performed well a number of key tasks, such as: Completing the appraisal of the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; coordinating with the Central Economic Committee to prepare contents to serve the summary of 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for the development of Nghe An province to 2020.

In particular, promoting the country's new position and strength, closely following the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, with the direction, guidance and support of the Central External Relations Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the international integration work and foreign affairs activities of Nghe An province have had many strong, positive, synchronous and effective innovations on three pillars: Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy, and People's foreign affairs.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Quang Hieu affirmed that the focus of the diplomatic sector in the coming time is to serve development, taking businesses and people as the center. Based on the motto that diplomacy is a pioneer in exploring and paving the way, the sector will connect, accompany and support localities, including Nghe An.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said that he will connect and take advantage of every opportunity to support local development, especially green development and digital transformation; at the same time, open up export markets for domestic goods in general and Nghe An goods in particular; as well as call for and support localities to access the world's capital and technology markets.

At the meeting, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ambassadors exchanged useful information and specific and practical cooperation ideas, meeting the wishes of both sides, opening a new and deeper period of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nghe An province; accompanying Nghe An to consolidate and promote friendly and cooperative relations with localities and traditional partners, promote relations with potential partners, and attract resources for socio-economic development.

OPENING A NEW, DEEPER ERA OF COOPERATION BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND NGHE AN

After listening to the opinions of the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Thai Thanh Quy suggested that after the meeting, Nghe An province and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will sign a Cooperation Program between the two sides in the period of 2023 - 2025, to create a solid and tight foundation to make the cooperative relationship between the two sides increasingly closer and more effective.

Believing that the cooperative relationship between Nghe An and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be very effective, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy said that the province will create a short video clip and ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide it to embassies in other countries to introduce and promote the province's image, economy, culture, society, etc. to partners around the world.

Highly appreciating the opinions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation at the meeting such as: Connecting with the Association of Vietnamese Enterprises in Europe to organize an investment forum in Nghe An;... The Provincial Party Secretary said that Nghe An is ready to coordinate to expand the network of relations with international partners in foreign affairs and economics through the help of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On this occasion, the Provincial Party Secretary also informed about the major orientations of the province, especially the provincial planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; the completion of infrastructure such as: Deep-water seaport, International airport; expansion of the Southeast Economic Zone to increase industrial land area... Thereby, hoping that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ambassadors will continue to support Nghe An in the investment promotion process.

Concluding the meeting, Minister Bui Thanh Son assessed that the meeting achieved its goal of helping the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation understand the strengths and needs of Nghe An; at the same time, the Ministry also presented content that could help the province.

Agreeing with the proposal of Nghe An province, the Minister of Foreign Affairs requested the Department of Foreign Affairs to coordinate with the Nghe An Department of Foreign Affairs to review and synthesize a cooperation program for the next 3 years with the province; at the same time, highly agreed that the implementation of the cooperation mechanism between the two sides needs to be methodical, with a clear focal point and presiding agency, and an annual review and evaluation mechanism.

Accordingly, in specific areas of cooperation, the Minister emphasized that it is necessary to coordinate right from the construction of work plans for senior leaders of the province, to both ensure unity in managing foreign affairs activities and smoothly combine the factors of strengthening friendly relations with localities and partners; especially the most important thing is to find the right partners to promote the strength of capital, investment, market, human resource training;...

Comrade Bui Thanh Son also emphasized the need to focus on promoting investment and promoting the image of Nghe An in the fields of culture, society, heritage, etc. in cooperation between the two sides; as well as introducing industrial parks and supporting Nghe An to call for and attract investment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also ready to support Nghe An in improving its foreign affairs capacity and international integration; expanding the network of localities of countries that have established ties with Nghe An; coordinating the organization of common foreign affairs activities of the country in the province;...

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also agreed with the province's proposal to coordinate information, and suggested that Nghe An soon complete a video clip about the province to post on the websites of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad and also provide information for the Ministry to introduce and promote Nghe An through other channels and activities. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also provide monthly information for Nghe An to refer to.

Also at the meeting, in foreign affairs, Minister Bui Thanh Son also suggested that Nghe An continue to promote and strengthen cooperation with Laos; continue to build a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developing border, serving the socio-economic development of both sides.
