More outbreaks of African swine fever in Dien Chau and Nghi Loc
(Baonghean.vn) - African swine fever is still very complicated. Test results show that sick and dead pigs in Dien Loc commune (Dien Chau) and Nghi Hoa commune (Nghi Loc) are all positive for African swine fever.
* In Dien Chau
In Dien Loc commune, on the morning of May 17, measures to prevent African swine fever are being urgently implemented.
Mr. Hoang Sy Minh - Vice Chairman of Dien Loc Commune People's Committee said that early in the morning, the commune had deployed 3 quarantine checkpoints on the main roads leading to neighboring communes: Dien Tho and Dien Thinh; at the same time, deployed to destroy epidemic pigs.
Previously, on May 15, Dien Chau District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station took samples of sick pigs in Dien Loc commune including households: Cao Ngoc Tuan in hamlet 4; Cao Ba Loc in hamlet 14 and the family of Ms. Hoang Thi Ha in hamlet 2.

Test results on the evening of May 16 showed that 3 samples tested in Dien Loc commune (Dien Chau) were all positive for African swine fever.

This afternoon, after the district People's Committee announced the epidemic, the commune will hold a meeting to assign specific tasks to the forces to the teams, including: blockades, disinfection, destruction, propaganda and logistics. For now, the commune has purchased 800 kg of lime powder and the district has provided 24 liters of disinfectant chemicals.
What is worrying is that currently in Dien Chau area, there are 3 more communes reporting sick pigs: Dien Nguyen, Dien Yen and Dien Kim. The district Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station has sent staff to the communes to assess the situation and take samples for testing.
* At Nghi Loc
On the afternoon of May 15, Mr. Dang Van Thien's family in Hoa Tay hamlet, Nghi Hoa commune (Nghi Loc) reported to the local authorities that one pig had died and two pigs were sick with symptoms of high fever, loss of appetite, bleeding... The veterinary agency took samples for testing.

Test results on the evening of May 16 showed that the dead pigs at Mr. Thien’s house tested positive for African swine fever. The authorities have organized the culling of the pigs with a total weight of 345kg.
Mr. Dang Tho Thieu - Vice Chairman of Nghi Hoa Commune People's Committee said: The whole commune currently has about 700 pigs, mainly small-scale farming. After receiving news that pigs were infected with swine fever, the commune set up 2 checkpoints at both ends of Hamlet 10. In addition to 24 liters of chemicals provided by the District Veterinary Station, we bought 1 ton of lime powder to fight the epidemic.

On the morning of May 17, Nghi Loc district veterinary staff continued to take samples from Mr. Nguyen Van Chung's family in Hau Hoa hamlet, Nghi Hoa commune to test for African swine fever (before that, Mr. Chung's family had 1 dead pig and 3 sick pigs).
African swine fever is becoming more complicated in Nghi Loc district. Two outbreaks in hamlet 11, Nghi Hung commune and hamlet 22, Nghi Trung commune both had more sick pigs die after the epidemic was declared. Test results showed that all samples were positive for African swine fever.
African swine fever in Nghi Loc district is evolving unpredictably, especially in the new outbreak in Nghi Hoa commune because this is a central area with a large volume of traffic and a centralized slaughterhouse that supplies the market with a large amount of meat every day. We are currently requesting the commune authorities to convene all slaughterhouses to strictly prohibit pig slaughtering from today.
From May 1 to May 17, in Dien Chau district, 12 communes had pigs infected with African swine fever, including: Dien Van, Dien Kim, Dien Thai, Dien Truong, Dien My, Dien Quang, Dien Bich, Dien Doai, Dien Xuan, Dien Hong, Dien Hanh, Dien Loc.
In Nghi Loc district, there are 4 communes infected with the epidemic including: Nghi My, Nghi Hung, Nghi Trung, Nghi Hoa.
