Cold-resistant tilapia grow well in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On November 22, the Department of Science and Technology organized a delegation to visit a number of effective models of applying scientific and technological advances in Vinh City, Nghi Loc, Dien Chau and Quynh Luu districts.

In Vinh City, the delegation visited the model of breeding and growing Monkara and Phalaenopsis orchids, rural household water filters, extraction and production of soluble powder from fish mint at the Experimental Research and Science and Technology Service Center; the universal wood bending equipment in shipbuilding at Hai Chau Shipbuilding Company; processing of functional products from yellow flower tea at Nghe An Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies Joint Stock Company; the model of raising hybrid tilapia in Quynh Van commune (Quynh Luu) and the model of raising tilapia in Nghi Loc district; the model of raising commercial ostriches in Dien Tho commune (Dien Chau).

Water filtration equipment for rural households has been applied in Quynh Luu district.

Steam-powered ship plank bending equipment is applied at Hai Chau Shipbuilding Company.

The above models have been deployed and applied in recent years and have been successful. Some models have been replicated in practice, bringing clear results to people, such as the hybrid tilapia farming model of Mr. Dau Duc Kinh's family, Hamlet 18, Quynh Van Commune. In 2013, Mr. Kinh raised a 1-hectare hybrid tilapia model. The fish have the advantages of being cold-resistant, eating little, growing quickly, and bringing high income.

Instant tea and capsule products are extracted from flowers and leaves of golden camellia of Nghe An Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies Joint Stock Company.

Currently, Mr. Kinh has expanded the farming of this fish species to 4 hectares, with a total annual harvest of 60 tons, after deducting expenses, earning a net profit of 400 million VND. Realizing the high efficiency of the hybrid tilapia farming model, up to now, the people of Quynh Van commune have expanded the farming of this fish species to about 30 hectares.

Or the research topic of manufacturing a system of equipment for bending ship planks using hot steam has been successfully applied in practice, replacing the manual method of bending planks by heating with fire. This topic was carried out by Dr. Le Khac Binh, Vinh University of Technical Education, in collaboration with Hai Chau Shipbuilding Company.

After this model is successful, it will be widely applied in shipbuilding facilities in the province in the near future.
