Medicinal value from pork

Pork is a source of protein, lipids, vitamins and minerals that help nourish the body. Parts of thepork, blood, intestines, trotters, bile, skin when combined with oriental medicine also have medicinal effects.

According to Oriental medicine, lean pork (pig meat) has a sweet, salty taste, neutral properties; affects the spleen, stomach, and kidneys, and has the effect of nourishing yin and moistening dryness. Used in cases of infection, high fever, dehydration, dry cough, constipation, diabetes, and malnutrition.

Pork fat (tru chi cao) is sweet, cool, enters the lungs and large intestine, has the effect of replenishing deficiency and moistening dryness. Used for cases of dry cough, constipation, dry skin, chapped skin.

Pig's feet (trù đề) are sweet, salty, neutral, enter the stomach meridian, have the effect of nourishing blood, relieving scrotum, and promoting tissue regeneration and scar healing. Used for cases of blood deficiency, weakness, low milk supply in postpartum women, and itchy boils.

Pork porridge: 200g lean meat, 1 carrot, 1 potato, 100g good rice. Mince lean pork, dice carrots and potatoes. This porridge is nutritious and easy to digest, and can be used for children, postpartum women, people who have just recovered from illness... to restore health.

Pig skin extract: 60g of pig skin, scrape clean, heat on charcoal stove until cooked, cook into a liquid extract, add roasted rice powder and honey and boil into an extract. Eat when hungry, 1 spoon each time, 3-4 times a day. Used for cases of dry, irritated skin, peeling and wrinkling of the face, cases of sore throat, dry lips and throat, feeling of fever after long-term infection, constipation and dysentery.

Pork skin and jujube soup: 500g fresh pork skin, 250g jujube, appropriate amount of rock sugar. Clean the pork skin, cut into long slices, add water and cook into a liquid soup. When the pork skin is cooked, add jujube with seeds removed, continue to cook until soft; add rock sugar, stir well, let cool. Divide into daily snacks. Used for cases of subcutaneous hemorrhage, bleeding gums...

Note, pork has high nutritional value but avoid eating too much, especially meat mixed with fat, which can increase blood cholesterol levels leading to atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, and obesity.
