158 households at high risk of landslides in the two border communes of Muong Tip and Muong Ai of Ky Son district have long been in a state of anxiety when the rainy season comes.

Although the State has planned to relocate these households to permanent resettlement areas elsewhere, it has not yet been implemented.

To solve the urgent problem, the State will invest in building temporary evacuation houses for these households in safer areas. Mr. Ha Ba Thai - Chairman of Muong Tip Commune People's Committee said: Recently, Ky Son district has completed temporary tent houses for 137 households that need to be urgently evacuated. Each temporary house has an area of ​​15 m²When there is prolonged heavy rain, the commune will proactively evacuate people to temporary evacuation houses to ensure their safety.

Materials for making temporary houses, steel frame, covered with canvas on top and around, bamboo floor. When the weather is heavy and prolonged rain, these households must evacuate all people and necessary assets to the temporary housing area to live.

Mr. Moong Pho Hoa in Xop Phe village said that his family has 10 people, including 2 elderly people and 3 children. Because the house is located in a high-risk landslide area, every time the rainy season comes, he is worried that he will be unable to escape in time due to landslides. Now that the government has completed the temporary evacuation house more than 1 km from the village, he is reassured. However, commune and district officials need to grasp the weather developments to mobilize people to move early, because the road from the village to the temporary house is a trail, difficult to travel.

It is known that among the 158 households at high risk of landslides, there are 138 households in Muong Tip commune and 20 households in Muong Ai commune. 158 temporary evacuation houses were built in 4 areas, each area was built with a centralized water supply system and some other auxiliary works, with a total cost of nearly 4 billion VND.
