The Department of Overseas Labor Management - Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said that some brokers and intermediaries have taken advantage of the trust of workers who want to work in Korea to defraud and illegally collect money for personal gain.

These subjects often provide inaccurate information, promising to help workers go to work in Korea through different channels; some subjects even forged contracts, seals and signatures of leaders of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to defraud large sums of money from workers.

To avoid being scammed and losing money for workers, the Department of Overseas Labor Management recommends that workers learn about current information and programs to work in Korea through the websites of the Department of Overseas Labor Management (http://www.dolab.gov.vn) and the Overseas Labor Center (http://colab.gov.vn).

In addition, it is necessary to be vigilant against all information, invitations, and promises to help you work in Korea and contact the authorities to verify the information received. In particular, it is necessary to report to the authorities (Police, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of the place of residence, Department of Overseas Labor Management, etc.) to coordinate in handling when detecting cases of fraud against workers.

The Department of Overseas Labor Management said that currently, workers can go to work in Korea through 3 official channels, including:

Firstly, workers going under the Korean Employment Permit System for Foreign Workers (EPS): The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs assigned the Overseas Labor Center as the sole agency to implement this program. However, currently, because the Korean side has not re-signed the normal Memorandum of Understanding with Vietnam, new workers cannot participate in this program.

For workers who have applied online and are waiting to be selected by a Korean employer under the EPS Program, workers can only go to work in Korea when a Korean employer chooses to sign a contract. When there is information about the status of their application such as being selected, paying money, leaving the country or invitations, promises to help them be selected and leave the country quickly, they need to contact the Overseas Labor Center to check and verify the information received.

Second, workers who wish to work under the program of sending workers to work as crew members on near-shore and offshore fishing vessels in Korea can contact businesses that have been authorized by the Department of Overseas Labor Management to do so (find the list of businesses that are authorized to do so on the website of the Department of Overseas Labor Management).

Accordingly, some basic conditions to register to participate in the program: workers must be between 20 and 40 years old; must live in a coastal area and have experience and ability to catch seafood; must be in good health according to the provisions of Vietnamese law and the requirements of the country receiving the workers; must not be banned from leaving the country according to the provisions of Vietnamese law and banned from entering the country according to the provisions of the law of the country receiving the workers.

Third, workers who wish to work under the Program to send highly skilled workers to work in Korea under the gold card program (E7 visa). Some basic conditions to register to participate in the program include: having a degree equivalent to or higher than a bachelor's degree in a related field; having worked for more than 2 years in the required professional field; Korean (or English) proficiency that meets the requirements of the employer; being in good health according to the regulations of Vietnamese law and the requirements of the country receiving the worker; not being banned from leaving the country according to the regulations of Vietnamese law and banned from entering the country according to the regulations of the law of the country receiving the worker.
