Police remove tiles, break door to rescue wife locked up by husband

Mr. Trung drank pesticide, forced his wife into the bedroom, pulled the cabinet to block the door, and the police tried to persuade him for 3 hours.

At noon on June 24, Cam Xuyen District Police (Ha Tinh) received a report that Le Van Trung (39 years old, residing in Cam Quang Commune) committed suicide by drinking pesticide and restraining his wife in the bedroom, not allowing anyone to approach.

Assessing that Mr. Trung showed signs of panic, because 3 days ago he kicked his wife out of the house and prevented his 5-month-old child from breastfeeding, the police did not use strong measures, tried to persuade him for 3 hours but had no results.

A task force was ordered to apply professional measures, breaking the door and roof tiles into the room to rescue the victim. Everything was done successfully. The police determined that Mr. Trung's pesticide ingestion had not seriously affected his health.

Working with the police, Mr. Trung confessed that he was upset because he was in debt and caused the above incident.

Deputy Chief of Police of Cam Xuyen District Le Viet Duong said that Trung was handed over to the local authorities for management. The authorities did not prosecute him for his actions. His wife asked for forgiveness for her husband./.
