In the midst of the vast ocean, the rolling waves and the pitch-black night, a father and his 6-year-old daughter clung to each other for more than 13 hours, fighting for their lives. That is the miraculous survival story of Nguyen Thanh Tung and Nguyen Tran Phuong Anh (Truong Vinh ward, Nghe An), a journey that makes anyone who hears it choke up and feel emotional.

On the afternoon of July 30, Tung and his son went to Xuan Thanh beach (Ha Tinh province) to have fun and go SUP. At that time, they were just swimming close to the shore, not rowing far, both were wearing life jackets and the SUP rope was carefully tied to Tung's legs.

Suddenly, big waves caused by strong southerly winds pushed little Phuong Anh far from shore. Mr. Tung immediately jumped in to save his daughter. But the more he tried to swim against the waves, the further they were swept away, beyond control.

After only a few big waves, the mainland disappeared. Waves up to 2 meters high continuously crashed into the SUP, causing the father and daughter to be thrown off the boat many times, drinking seawater and becoming exhausted. All the survival gear in the backpack was swept away. However, thanks to his survival skills, Mr. Tung still tried to stay calm, managing to keep the SUP afloat in the middle of the current while reassuring his little daughter not to panic.

As night fell, in the middle of the dark sea, the father and son could only cling to the SUP in a fragile hope. Luckily, it was raining heavily, allowing Mr. Tung to collect some rainwater for the father and son to drink. They even caught a jellyfish to stave off hunger.

What makes everyone admire is the extraordinary spirit of 6-year-old Phuong Anh, who did not cry or panic, even though she was knocked off her SUP many times by waves, had to drink salty water, and was freezing in the dark ocean.
