Father used his son's savings to contribute to drug trafficking
(Baonghean.vn) - Despite being in and out of prison four times, Viet still harbored the intention of getting rich from drugs. This time, Viet took hundreds of millions of dong from his family's living expenses and his children's savings and gave them to his accomplices to go to Nghe An to buy drugs.
Nghe An Provincial People's Court has just opened a first-instance criminal trial to try defendant Vu Dinh Ba (born in 1976), residing in Doan Thuong commune, Gia Loc district (Hai Duong) for the crime of "Illegal trading of narcotics"; defendant Do Dinh Viet (born in 1968), residing in Gia Loc town, Gia Loc district (Hai Duong) for 2 crimes of "Illegal trading and possession of narcotics".
Both defendants havebad character, in which Viet was imprisoned 4 times for different crimes.
Both of them went to jail but still returned to their old ways. On November 19, 2020, with the purpose of finding drugs to resell for profit, Viet gave Ba 130 million VND.
The next day, Ba took a bus to the Dua village area, Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district to buy 1 heroin cake (weighing 352 grams) from a person of unknown origin and address. This person also gave Ba 18.4 grams of drugs for the purpose of selling to Viet. In the evening of the same day, when Vu Dinh Ba was carrying drugs to Hai Duong province, he was arrested by the police.

Based on Ba's testimony, the investigation agency arrested Do Dinh Viet. In addition, on November 22, 2020, Viet also illegally stored 0.45 grams of various drugs at home for use. Therefore, Viet must be held responsible for the act of buying and selling 352 grams of drugs and storing 0.45 grams of drugs. Vu Dinh Ba must be held criminally responsible for the act of buying and selling more than 374 grams of drugs.
At the trial, defendant Viet stated that he bought and sold drugs because he was addicted to drugs and had no stable job. Regarding the 130 million VND he spent on drugs, Viet stated that he took his family’s living expenses and his children’s savings. Meanwhile, defendant Ba stated that because he was addicted, he did whatever anyone asked him to do.
Considering that the defendants have bad personal records and are repeat offenders, the panel sentenced Do Dinh Viet to 18 years in prison for "Illegal drug trafficking" and 1 year in prison for "Illegal drug possession", forcing the defendants to serve a total sentence of 19 years in prison. Sentenced defendant Vu Dinh Ba to 20 years in prison.
