Details of projects to renovate and upgrade Vinh Airport during 6 months of closure
Vinh Airport (Nghe An) is expected to close in the last 6 months of 2025 to carry out renovation and upgrading projects invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC (ACV).
Accordingly, Vinh International Airport (Vinh Airport) will repair the 2,400m long, 45m wide runway; 2 taxiways measuring 73.9m long, 18m wide and 128m long, 18m wide; material curbs, brake strips, safety strips, signal paint, synchronized drainage, repair and replacement of signal systems and synchronized signs.

The total investment of this project is 623.4 billion VND, with an expected construction progress of 6 months; starting before June 30, 2025, completing before December 30, 2025. Therefore, Vinh Airport is expected to close for a maximum of 6 months to carry out this item.
In addition, ACV is carrying out a project to renovate the Domestic Terminal with a scale including: Filling 5 atrium spaces of about 1,189m2; rearrange functional areas to optimize exploitation capacity, with a total investment of 68.36 billion VND. Construction progress is expected to be 8 months, starting before April 30, 2025, and completed before December 30, 2025.

In addition, ACV is simultaneously carrying out a project to expand and renovate the aircraft parking lot with an area of 29,612m2.2; meet the exploitation of 9 Code C aircraft positions; material margins, drainage, fences, signal lights, signal paint, aircraft anchors, drainage... synchronously.
This project has a total investment of 236.6 billion VND. The construction progress is expected to be 8 months; starting before April 30, 2025, and completing before December 30, 2025.

In the Master Plan for the development of the national airport system for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 648/QD-TTg dated June 7, 2023, Vinh International Airport is a level 4E airport; with a capacity of about 8 million passengers/year by 2030; land area of 557.33 hectares. Estimated investment cost is 14,942 billion VND.
Vision to 2050: Capacity of about 14 million passengers/year, land area of 557.33 hectares, estimated investment cost of VND 8,905 billion.
Regarding detailed planning, the Ministry of Transport approved the planning of Vinh International Airport in Decision No. 201/QD-BGTVT dated February 19, 2025 as a level 4E airport, specifically:
Period 2021-2030: Expand terminal T1 to reach 5 million passengers/year and plan terminal T2 between the two runways to reach 3 million passengers/year, increasing the total capacity to 8 million passengers/year and 25,000 tons of cargo; code C and code E aircraft; extend the existing runway (runway 1) to 3,000m in size; parallel taxiway 180m from the center of the existing runway; apron reaches about 15 code C positions.
Vision to 2050: Construct runway 2 with dimensions of 3000x45m, east of the existing runway; expand the aircraft parking area of terminal T2 to 29 positions; expand passenger terminal T2 to a capacity of about 9.0 million passengers/year, bringing the total capacity of the entire port to about 14 million passengers/year; expand the cargo terminal to 35,000 tons/year.
