Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee works with Chairman of Singapore Manufacturing Federation
(Baonghean.vn) - Working with the Chairman of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung proposed that the Federation support the province in organizing investment promotion activities with Singaporean partners to invest in Nghe An.
On the occasion of accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to an official visit to Singapore, on the morning of February 10, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province had a working session with Mr. Lenon Tan - Chairman of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF).
The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) is a government agency that works with relevant stakeholders to drive profitability and growth for the Singapore business community, enhance the competitiveness of businesses through capability development, innovation & productivity enhancement, standards adoption & implementation, overseas expansion, and provide comprehensive support and opportunities for companies to collaborate, network, grow and expand both locally and internationally. Established in 1932, SMF is the recognised voice of Singapore’s manufacturing industry and has played a significant role in Singapore nation-building. SMF has more than 5,000 member companies, ranging from multinational corporations to small and medium enterprises representing the entire Singapore manufacturing industry. SMF undertakes a wide range of activities to enhance the competitive edge of Singapore companies.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his joy and gratitude to Mr. Lenon Tan - Chairman of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation for taking the time to receive the delegation; at the same time, he sent his best wishes to him personally and wished the Singapore Manufacturing Federation as well as the members of SMF further development.

Recalling the working session between Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy and the Chairman of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation in February 2022, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung said that the two sides had signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fields of investment and trade. However, since then, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the two sides have not been able to carry out specific activities.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that Nghe An considers partners from Singapore to be extremely important in investment cooperation, trade and economic development activities. In recent times, investment cooperation between Nghe An province and partners from Singapore has achieved very positive results.
The province currently has 6 foreign investment projects from Singapore with a total registered capital of over 301.68 million USD. Of these, 5 projects have been put into production and have been effective, especially the project of VSIP Group.
Mr. Lenon Tan - Chairman of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation congratulated the successful investment results of Singaporean enterprises in Nghe An, especially the management role of Sembcorp Group in bringing many enterprises to invest in Nghe An.

The Chairman of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation affirmed that in the coming time, the Federation will continue to accompany and closely coordinate with Nghe An province to inform members and partners, search for and connect more suitable partners to Nghe An province to invest and operate effectively.
Discussing the fields in which Nghe An aims to attract investment, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that the province wishes to attract investors in the fields of processing and manufacturing; green agricultural production, preservation and processing of agricultural products; believing that with its role, the Singapore Manufacturing Federation will be able to promote businesses in these fields to Nghe An province to explore investment opportunities.
Currently, Nghe An is the destination of manufacturers in the electronics manufacturing sector, providing equipment for large corporations in the world such as: Apple, Samsung, Tesla... Therefore, Nghe An hopes that manufacturers from Singapore will consider investment opportunities in the area, especially investing in industrial parks, including VSIP Industrial Park.
The head of the provincial People's Committee believes that Nghe An has enough basic conditions to welcome investors according to the green investment criteria of Singaporean partners. Recently, Nghe An has been approved by the Prime Minister for the investment policy of VSIP Nghe An II Project in Tho Loc Industrial Park with a scale of 500 hectares.

Nghe An Province has discussed with Sembcorp Group to build this industrial park according to the new generation industrial park model with the following factors: Green - smart - energy saving - sustainable development. This will be an industrial park to attract investors according to the goals desired by the Chairman of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation.
In the coming time, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province proposed that the Singapore Manufacturing Federation support the province in introducing investors to explore investment opportunities in Nghe An province. It is expected that in March 2023, Nghe An province will organize a delegation to promote investment and seek cooperation opportunities with Singaporean partners. Therefore, Nghe An province proposed that the Singapore Manufacturing Federation support in organizing investment promotion activities with investment partners in Singapore in Nghe An.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung also respectfully invited the leaders of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation and its members to attend the Groundbreaking Ceremony of VSIP Nghe An II Project and participate in the Economic Cooperation Forum between Nghe An province and partners from other countries, including Singapore.

Sincerely thanking the invitation of the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Lenon Tan - Chairman of Singapore Manufacturing Federation said that he will notify the members and have information with Nghe An province as soon as possible.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding, Nghe An and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with the aim of facilitating the connection of businesses between the two sides, increasing investment attraction from Singapore to Nghe An province and trade exchange between Nghe An and Singapore on the basis of the functions, tasks and powers of each side, in accordance with international treaties, agreements to which Vietnam and Singapore are members and the legal regulations of each country.
Nghe An Provincial People's Committee will create favorable conditions to support enterprises introduced by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation to explore investment, business and trade exchange in Nghe An in order to conduct feasibility studies and investment projects with high added value, using modern and environmentally friendly technology such as: Electronics; supporting industry; agricultural, forestry and fishery processing industry; consumer product manufacturing industry; medical equipment, medicinal materials and pharmaceuticals manufacturing industry.
Nghe An Provincial People's Committee will also closely coordinate with the Singapore Manufacturing Federation to organize working visits between the two sides and seminars to promote investment and trade in Nghe An province in a thoughtful and effective manner.
The Singapore Manufacturing Federation will introduce the investment environment and advantages of Nghe An province to Singaporean investors and businesses who are interested in learning about investment and business cooperation; create conditions for state agencies and businesses in Nghe An province to connect and work with state agencies and businesses in Singapore during business trips to Singapore to promote investment and trade. The Singapore Manufacturing Federation will also support Nghe An province in organizing investment and trade promotion seminars in person and online.
