Kim Lien Pagoda holds the Great Bell Casting Ceremony
(Baonghean.vn) - On May 24, Kim Lien Pagoda in Lien Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District held a ceremony to cast a large bell weighing 1 ton.
Kim Lien Pagoda was built in the early 19th century, located in the grounds of Lien Tri communal house and associated with the village festival. During the war years, the pagoda was dismantled to make way for civil works.

In 2018, following the wishes of local people and with the contributions of many people from Yen Thanh rice fields, Kim Lien Pagoda was rebuilt next to Bach Ma Temple in Hamlet 2. In order to meet the religious and spiritual needs of the people, the pagoda continues to perform Buddhist activities and organizes the great bell casting ceremony.

In a solemn atmosphere, the monks performed the blessing ceremony, poured bronze to cast the great bell. According to the design, the great bell of Kim Lien pagoda weighs 1 ton, is 2.17 m high, and has a diameter of more than 1 m, and was made by craftsmen from Hung Yen province. The cost of casting the bell was donated by Yen Thanh people, Buddhists and benefactors from near and far.

The big bell will be crafted in a traditional style with simple, elegant decorative motifs. On the body of the bell are engraved 4 large characters “Kim Lien Thien Tu” and famous poems such as “Cu Tran Lac Dao” by Buddha Emperor Tran Nhan Tong, “Mong” by Zen Master Thanh Tu… What is special is that all the characters on the body of the bell are engraved in Vietnamese.
