Due to the entire district being quarantined to prevent the epidemic, consumption is facing many difficulties. Organizations and individuals in the district and commune are joining hands to help farmers consume the above products.

Mr. Le Dinh Thanh, Hung Thanh commune,Yen Thanhsaid: This melon crop, the family planted 1.2 hectares of watermelons, previously during the harvest season they could not harvest them in time to sell. However, due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire district is currently under social isolation, so traders cannot come to buy. The watermelons have ripened in the fields, if they are not sold in time they will spoil.
Faced with that difficult situation, the People's Committee of Hung Thanh commune contacted charitable organizations to organize connections, transportation, and consumption, helping us sell over 3 tons.watermelon, currently there are only 2 tons of melons left. It is known that in normal times, watermelons sold to customers in the field fluctuate from 8,000-10,000 VND/kg. However, in the current situation, the price has dropped to 6,000-8,000 VND/kg in the garden depending on the type, with the hope of receiving support from everyone to recover the investment capital.

Mr. Ho Huu Quang's household in Hung Thanh commune is also stuck with 5 sao of cucumbers. Organizations and individuals have collected and sold 100-150 kg of various types of cucumbers every day.
Mr. Tran Van Trung - Chairman of Hung Thanh Commune People's Committee said: Hung Thanh commune currently has nearly 22 hectares of crop area, of which over 4 hectares of watermelon and cucumber are in harvest season, the rest are mainly gourds, squash and other vegetables... Recently, Hung Thanh Commune People's Committee has actively introduced products on social networking sites to help people consume watermelon and melon products within the commune.
Up to this point, individuals and organizations in the district have supported and helped people in Hung Thanh commune consume about 4 tons of watermelon and cucumber. Currently, the whole commune still has about 3.5 tons of watermelon and cucumber, which will hopefully be consumed in the near future.
All purchasing units comply with epidemic prevention regulations. The Commune People's Committee has mobilized organizations such as the Youth Union to go to the fields to directly harvest and transport watermelons and cucumbers to cars for households.

Mr. Le Van Hong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district shared: At this time, Yen Thanh district has many agricultural products facing difficulties in output due to the epidemic, such as stagnant lemons, grapefruits, dragon fruits... But, the most difficult thing is that watermelons and cucumbers in Hung Thanh commune are in the harvest season, if not consumed in time, they will spoil.
Currently, we are surveying and making statistics on difficult agricultural products, from which we can propose solutions for consuming agricultural products for people during the complicated epidemic period. We can connect with Vinh City and other localities in need to purchase the above agricultural products to help people.
