Ho had to sell his motorbike to pay off the bet.
At around 5am on June 24, Nguyen Minh Ho went to Trieu An Hospital on Kinh Duong Vuong Street, An Lac Ward, Binh Tan District, and entered the hospital canteen to ask for free food. When passing by the parking lot, Nguyen Minh Ho discovered that the ambulance with license plate number 51B-125.46 still had the key in it, so he got in and drove out of the hospital towards Trung Luong Expressway to return to his hometown in An Giang.
When arriving at the Trung Luong Expressway toll station, the toll collector became suspicious and reported to the Tan Tuc Town Police, Binh Chanh District, to arrest the subject. Based on Nguyen Minh Ho's statement, the Tan Tuc Town Police handed over the person and the evidence to the Binh Tan District Police for handling.
Nguyen Minh Ho did not admit to stealing the car to sell it, but said he only took the car back to his hometown with the intention of getting money or finding valuable family assets to pawn, bringing the money to Ho Chi Minh City to continue gambling. And when he was done, he would bring the car back to Trieu An Hospital.
