Shifting winter crop production to create goods sources

Cooperatives and village chiefs in many communes of Thanh Chuong districthas made efforts to supply seeds and fertilizers to villages, helping people with science, technology and safe vegetable growing methods.
The district also assigned functional officers and localities to stay close to the fields, support farmers, and issue policies to support seeds. Therefore, despite having to replant many times due to floods, people in the district planted 5,200 hectares of winter crops, ensuring 100% of the plan.

It is noteworthy that in some communes, vegetables have been arranged in concentrated areas such as mustard greens, beans, shallots, and herbs. According to Mr. Le Dinh Thanh - Vice Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee, these are good signals for the district to continue directing production, aiming to expand the scale of clean production, and invest in intensive farming to have a large volume of goods.
Winter crop 2016, Anh Son districtDevelop many specialized areas for vegetable production in the direction of focusing on quality and sustainability, aiming to create a breakthrough, increase the value of agricultural production per unit of cultivated land area as well as form specialized fields for high income.
Cam Son commune has a long tradition of specialized vegetable production in Anh Son district. Along with vegetables, this year hybrid squash cultivation has been expanded. Mr. Hoang Van Dieu's family in Hoi Lam village is focusing on taking care of 4 sao of squash on the land. According to Mr. Dieu, squash cultivation does not require too much investment, the growing period is only 1 month and 5 days, and harvests are done every 1-2 days. Each sao of squash yields from 1.5 to 2 tons, deducting costs, each sao brings in an income of 10 million VND.

This winter crop, Tao Son commune produced 40 hectares of squash with more than 200 households participating in planting. Concentrated in hamlets 5 and 9. The effectiveness of crop restructuring affirms the right direction in the economic restructuring of the locality, and people's income has improved significantly. Currently, the average income per capita of the commune reaches over 24.7 million VND/person/year, the poverty rate has decreased to 7.3%.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dang - Head of the Department of Agriculture of Anh Son district said: According to the production plan, in the 2016 winter crop, Anh Son district has formed 290 hectares of various vegetables and beans, an increase of 50 hectares compared to 2015, mainly concentrated in Cam Son, Thach Son, Lang Son, Tuong Son; 195 hectares of squash in Cam Son, Duc Son, Tao Son and 180 hectares of sweet potatoes. Based on the conditions and soil quality, many localities in Anh Son have proactively built safe vegetable areas, introduced new crop varieties with high yield potential and economic value, the district has also coordinated with departments and localities to regularly open training courses and provide technical advice. Many localities have encouraged businesses to cooperate and sign contracts for production and consumption of agricultural products with farmers.
