Commune police promptly stopped a farmer from transferring money to a 'fake' police officer.
Mr. D.H. is a farmer and has not broken any laws. However, when he heard the threats, due to lack of knowledge and fear, Mr. H. borrowed money from many places, gathered enough money of 15 million VND to go to the bank to complete the transfer procedures...
On September 8, Quang Dien District Police (Thua Thien Hue) said that they had just promptly prevented a case of transferring money to scammers on the internet.
Previously, after receiving information from a bank branch located in Quang An commune (Quang Dien district) about a man who came to transfer money with signs of being a victim of a cyber fraud, Quang An commune police quickly approached and coordinated to verify.

Through verification, it was found that Mr. D..H (born in 1965, residing in Quang Thanh commune, Quang Dien district) was called by a subject impersonating a "Police Agency" to inform him that Mr. H had violated the law and threatened that he would be temporarily detained if he did not transfer bail money for investigation. After that, the subject asked Mr. H. to transfer the full amount of 15 million VND to the account provided by the subject.
At that time, Mr. D.H. thought that he was a farmer, working in the fields all day and not doing anything illegal. However, when he heard the threats, due to lack of knowledge and fear, Mr. H. borrowed money from many places, collected enough money of 15 million VND and went to the bank to prepare to transfer the money, but was stopped in time by the Quang An Commune Police.
Quang An Commune Police also explained clearly to Mr. H about the behavior and tricks of the subjects impersonating the authorities. Thereby, helping Mr. H. and his family feel secure.
Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police advises people that when working, verifying, and investigating with individuals, organizations, and businesses, police officers will come to work directly or send written notices and summonses to local authorities, company addresses, family members, and people the police want to work with.
