At the meeting, comrade Vo Van Thuong - Standing member of the Secretariat announced the Decision of the 13th Politburo appointing 25 comrades to participate in the Central Military Commission for the 2020-2025 term;

The Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission consists of 6 comrades: General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - Secretary of the Central Military Commission; Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Politburo member, President; Pham Minh Chinh - Politburo member, Prime Minister; Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong - Politburo member, Director of the General Department of Politics; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Party Central Committee member, Chief of the General Staff, Deputy Minister of National Defense.

Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized: During the 2015-2020 term, the Central Military Commission has always been exemplary, united, and upheld principles, had many innovations, creativity, and high determination, focused on leading and directing the entire army to successfully implement the Resolution of the 10th Party Congress of the Army and the major goals and policies on military and national defense set forth by the 12th National Party Congress with many outstanding achievements: The Central Military Commission has well performed its advisory function to the Party and State on military and national defense; promptly and effectively handled situations, firmly protected the independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Fatherland; advised on the promulgation of many very important strategies and projects, contributing to the development of theoretical thinking, perfecting military guidelines and arts, and the system of legal policies on military, national defense, and protecting the Fatherland.

The national defense foundation has been built and consolidated more and more firmly. The overall quality and combat strength of the army have been improved. The defense industry has made great strides; initially mastered manufacturing technology, producing a number of modern weapons and equipment. Defense diplomacy has achieved many important results, contributing to protecting the Fatherland early and from afar; field hospitals in South Sudan operate effectively, are a trusted address for United Nations officers and staff in the area and local people, the beautiful image of Uncle Ho's soldiers has gone beyond national borders and has international influence.

The entire army's cadres and soldiers must maintain their political steadfastness, be loyal to the Party, be filial to the people, wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people; be present in difficult, arduous and dangerous places, and be ready to sacrifice to protect the lives and property of the people; be at the forefront of preventing and fighting natural disasters and epidemics; deeply affirm and further illuminate the fine qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era.

The Party Committee of the Army has always been concerned and cared for to build a clean and strong organization, constantly improving its leadership capacity and fighting strength; successfully organizing Party congresses at all levels, having a wide influence, actively contributing to the success of the 13th National Party Congress. The vast majority of cadres and Party members in the Party Committee of the Army have not degraded in political ideology, "self-evolution", "self-transformation"; always demonstrating a pioneering and exemplary character before the masses.

The end of the 2015-2020 term is also the time when some comrades are allowed to retire according to the regime; the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Military Commission respectfully thank you for your great contributions to the cause of national construction and defense; at the same time, we hope that you will continue to advise the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on policies and solutions for building the army, consolidating national defense, and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation, especially policies and solutions to basically build a streamlined and strong army by 2025, creating a solid foundation, striving from 2030 to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern army as set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
