Responding to the Earth Hour campaign in 2023, Nghe An Electricity Company has implemented many practical programs. Specifically, calling on organizations, agencies and customers in the whole province to continue to join and contribute to the fight against climate change, turning off lights and unnecessary equipment during the event from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023; Coordinating with local authorities and organizations, unions, press agencies, local information systems, implementing many forms of propaganda that are breakthrough, effective in practice, affecting many customers in transforming awareness into action of using electricity economically and effectively, promoting the Earth Hour campaign in 2023 and electricity saving activities in Nghe An province.

For the 2023 Earth Hour Campaign, Nghe An Power Company will promote online propaganda on websites, fanpages, social networks Facebook, Zalo; video clips, running text on screens about electricity saving and environmental protection at customer transaction locations, headquarters of Power units in the whole province. Hang banners and posters in easily observable public places, distribute propaganda leaflets... Some affiliated units will use mobile loudspeakers, parade propaganda on the streets to reach a large number of people. Activities must ensure safety, practicality, savings and efficiency.

The company also requires all staff to set an example in their own homes and mobilize residents in the residential area to turn off unnecessary lighting and other electrical equipment during the event.

According to statistics, during the 60-minute lights-off period of Earth Hour 2022, in Nghe An province, the capacity decreased by 12MW, equivalent to 12,000 kWh of electricity saved; The whole country saved 309,000 kWh (equivalent to about 576 million VND).

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Loi - Deputy Director of Nghe An Electricity Company said: “The message of this year's Earth Hour Campaign is "Save electricity - Make it a habit". This is also the message in Directive 20 on promoting electricity saving in the period 2020 - 2025 of the Prime Minister. Given the practical significance of the Earth Hour program, Nghe An Electricity Company has a specific plan to implement the program in a practical and effective manner. With the hope that all people, customers and businesses will not only turn off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment together for one hour, but also take action beyond one hour of turning off lights, forming the habit of saving electricity, saving energy, joining hands to protect the environment, towards a green future".

Earth Hour is an annual international event, organized by the World Wildlife Fund, that encourages households and businesses to turn off lights and electrical equipment that do not significantly affect daily life for 60 minutes (from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (local time) on the last Saturday of March every year).

In Vietnam, Earth Hour is a social activity chaired by the Ministry of Industry and Trade since 2009, aiming to raise public awareness of climate change and energy saving by encouraging households and businesses to turn off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment for 60 minutes.

Over the past 15 years, Earth Hour in Vietnam has attracted the attention and response of many agencies, organizations, businesses and people nationwide. This shows a positive change in public awareness towards the use of energy economically and efficiently.
