The 'giant' sweet potato weighing 9 kg of the people of the 'rice district' in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - A farmer in Nhan Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district has just dug up a sweet potato weighing 9kg. This is considered the "biggest" sweet potato ever in the locality.
Recently, when going to the garden to harvest sweet potatoes, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoan (62 years old) in Van Tay hamlet, Nhan Thanh commune was surprised to see a "giant" sweet potato lying on the garden ground.

After cutting all the vines, Mrs. Hoan brought the potato into the yard. At first glance, the potato looked like a lime pot, with a rough, bumpy outer skin, many wrinkles and cracks like a custard apple. The strange potato weighed 9kg.
According to Ms. Hoan, the potato varieties grown in the garden were bought from the market. The garden in front of the alley has a lot of rocks and gravel, and the potatoes are grown only to get the leaves and shoots as daily vegetables. Up to now, this batch of potatoes has been planted for 6 months, many vines have tubers, but all are small tubers, only 1 large tuber is unusual.
Hearing that Mrs. Hoan had just dug up a "giant" sweet potato, many people inside and outside Van Tay hamlet came to see. Everyone was surprised and said they had never seen such a big sweet potato before.

This special sweet potato has been cleaned by the homeowner and displayed in the house. Ms. Cao Thi Mai, Ms. Hoan's daughter, said: "We don't dare cook such a big, strange potato, so the family is leaving it on the table for curious people to see."
