Do Luong voters propose to completely handle environmental pollution at landfills

(Baonghean.vn) - Voters of Thuong Son commune (Do Luong district) reported that the environmental pollution treatment at landfills and points on national highways, provincial roads, and district roads in the area has not been completely resolved.

The People's Committee of Do Luong district responded to this issue as follows:

* Implementation results

In Do Luong district, there are currently 334/368 hamlets (33 communes and towns) implementing the temporary waste collection and treatment project; 12 communes and towns (Dang Son, Dong Son, Trang Son, Yen Son, Van Son, Thinh Son, Bac Son, Boi Son, Lam Son, Hoa Son, Da Son, Lac Son) and Do Luong District General Hospital merged the contract collection team with Do Luong Environmental Investment and Development Cooperation Joint Stock Company and the Town Environmental Services Cooperative to transport waste to the district's centralized landfill in Hong Son commune.

This is a centralized waste treatment site built to ensure current regulations on sanitary landfill waste treatment. In some communes, environmental pollution still occurs at temporary landfills and collection points on national highways, provincial roads, and district roads. The voters' reflection is true, to rectify the above situation, the People's Committee of Do Luong district has issued documents directing and assigning responsibility to the People's Committees of communes and towns to overcome and end the environmental pollution at household waste collection points, district roads, provincial roads and national highways, specifically National Highway 15A through Trang Son, Dong Son, and Town communes; National Highway 7 through Luu Son commune.

- The People's Committee of Do Luong district has assigned the People's Committees of communes and towns that are planned to dump garbage at the district's landfill in Hong Son commune to close the temporary landfills, restore the environment, plant trees to protect the environment, and end the environmental pollution caused by temporary landfills; the remaining communes regularly manage and handle the commune's temporary landfills to prevent environmental pollution at the centralized landfill.

* Reason

- Due to the limited awareness of some people, littering and collecting garbage at the wrong time and place has led to environmental pollution along district, provincial and national roads.

- The district's centralized landfill in Hong Son commune has an area of ​​4.2 hectares, the landfill system includes 4 landfill cells with an area of ​​22,652 m², the designed landfill volume is 142,713 m³not large enough to meet the waste volume of 33 communes and towns, so currently only 12 communes and towns collect and treat waste and domestic waste of Do Luong General Hospital. For the remaining 21 communes in the new rural planning, there are temporary waste treatment sites planned, but they are not designed, built and treated according to regulations.

- Strengthen the direction of the People's Committees of 33 communes and towns to effectively implement the temporary waste collection and treatment project; handle the situation of waste gathering causing environmental pollution on district roads, provincial roads, and national highways; thoroughly handle environmental pollution at temporary waste dumps.

- Strengthen the direction of the People's Committees of 33 communes and towns to organize propaganda on radio and television of communes and towns to raise people's awareness of maintaining environmental hygiene and preventing environmental pollution in residential areas.

- Regularly check and ensure the operation of the district's centralized landfill in Hong Son commune.
