The 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Quy Hop District, 2024
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 27, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district solemnly organized the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in the district in 2024 with the theme "Ethnic groups unite, innovate, promote advantages, potentials, integrate and develop sustainably".
Attending the congress were representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders of Quy Hop district and 150 outstanding delegates representing ethnic minorities in the whole district.

Quy Hop is a mountainous district located in the Northwest of Nghe An province, with a population of over 134 thousand people, including 3 main ethnic groups: Kinh, Thai, Tho living together in 21 communes and towns; of which ethnic minorities are over 72 thousand people, accounting for 53.7%. The whole district has 14 communes in area III, 6 communes in area I and 1 town; of which 99/214 villages and hamlets are particularly difficult.
According to the report at the congress, in recent times, Quy Hop district has paid attention to directing and effectively implementing the National Target Programs on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, contributing to clearly changing the face of rural areas, improving cultural life, and ensuring social security for ethnic minorities.


In the period of 2019 - 2024, the District People's Committee has implemented a program to support production development and livelihood diversification in 13 communes in Region III and 7 communes in Region I with 22 extremely difficult villages in the area, targeting poor and near-poor households with a total investment budget of over 7.5 billion VND. With the supported budget, the district has provided 464 local heifers and Sind crossbred heifers, organized training on livestock farming techniques for more than 500 households...

In the past 5 years, 496 projects have been invested in the whole district, with a total investment of more than 536 billion VND. Many projects to build schools according to national standard schools have also been invested. The irrigation system basically meets the irrigation needs for people's production, many canals in hamlets have been concreted. Culture and society have made much progress, the cultural identity of ethnic groups has been gradually preserved and promoted; the cultural and spiritual life of the people continues to be improved.
The policy for ethnic minorities in Quy Hop district has contributed to effective poverty reduction, helping the particularly disadvantaged commune to build essential infrastructure works, and households in the area to gradually develop production, thereby improving the quality of life and intellectual level of people in remote, isolated and particularly disadvantaged areas in the district. Thanks to that, the average added value per capita in 2023 of the whole district reached 49.19 million VND/person/year. The number of poor households in 2019 according to the poverty line for the period 2016-2020, accounted for 12.22%, and by the end of 2023, it decreased to 11.68%.
Speaking at the congress, Mr. Vi My Son - Deputy Head of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee said that the Congress of Ethnic Minorities was held to continue affirming the attention of the Party and State to ethnic minority areas; recognizing the great contributions of ethnic minorities in poverty reduction, building new rural areas, developing infrastructure, implementing ethnic policies, etc.

To effectively implement ethnic policies, Comrade Vi My Son suggested that the District People's Committee in the coming time continue to promote dynamism and creativity, based on the potentials and advantages of the district, focus efforts on implementing national target programs, especially the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
In addition, it is necessary to consolidate and improve the quality of the political system at the grassroots level; focus on planning, training, fostering, building and developing the contingent of cadres, developing party members, promoting prestigious ethnic minority people; continue to innovate the content and methods of implementing and carrying out ethnic work in accordance with the requirements and tasks in the new situation; further promote the strength of great solidarity among ethnic groups, promote patriotic emulation movements in ethnic minority areas and among all classes of people...
The Congress elected a delegation of 28 delegates to attend the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Nghe An province and passed the Congress Resolution.
On this occasion, 1 collective and 2 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee; The Provincial Ethnic Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 12 individuals with outstanding achievements contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc, contributing to building and protecting the homeland, and successfully implementing the task of local socio-economic development.



Quy Hop District People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 3 collectives and 15 individuals with outstanding achievements, typically ethnic minorities who have made many contributions to consolidating and promoting the great national unity bloc in ethnic minority areas.
