Party members take the lead in building poverty alleviation models
(Baonghean) - Recognizing the role of party committees at all levels in economic development, for many years, Thai Hoa Town has always focused on promoting the pioneering and exemplary role of cadres and party members in building sustainable poverty reduction models. The success of these models has created a strong spread among all classes of people.
Nghia Tien commune used to be one of the most difficult areas of Thai Hoa town, with nearly half of the hamlets and villages being ethnic minorities. In 2010, the poverty rate of the commune was nearly 15%, and people's lives and incomes faced many difficulties.
To revive the lives of local people, the Commune Party Committee focused on directing 13 grassroots Party cells to promote their pioneering and exemplary roles in reclaiming and expanding production land areas, and actively building sustainable poverty reduction models.
With the motto "party members go first, the country follows", party members, especially party cell secretaries, have become the vanguard in bringing economically effective crops and livestock to their localities.
Standing out in that movement, comrade Pham Thi Ha - Secretary of the Party Cell of Hamlet 6 is known as a typical example of "talking and doing" when successfully building a citrus fruit farm.

In the middle of a pomelo garden laden with fruit about to enter harvest season, comrade Ha said that his family's farm is more than 3 hectares wide, located on the area of Ru Dan and Ru Nay of village 6. Due to the sloping land and lack of local irrigation water, this area was previously mainly used to grow cassava and acacia.
However, the economic efficiency was not high. When the commune had a policy to restore and expand the cultivation area of pink grapefruit to become a specialty, she quickly registered to attend a training course organized by the locality, and at the same time borrowed capital to improve the land and buy seeds to build a model. Now, the farm has entered the second harvest, bringing in an income of over 500 million VND.
After the success of the Party cell secretary, many young Party members in the cell such as Pham Thi Huong, Dao Van Gioi, Nong Van Binh... also learned and developed the model, turning nearly ten hectares of hilly land into fruit farms with an income of about 300 million VND per year.
The models have created a strong spread in the village community, from here the movement to reclaim barren land and hills has been implemented synchronously by the people. If in 2010, out of a total of 154 households in the village, there were 10 poor households and 21 near-poor households, the average income per capita was only over 25 million VND/year, now it has increased to over 32 million VND/year, the whole village has 73 well-off households and only 9 near-poor households.

According to comrade Vu Duc Tai - Secretary of the Party Committee of Nghia Tien commune, with the characteristics of a purely agricultural commune, in order to lead the people in economic development, the Party Committee of the commune determined the key task is to help people access and apply scientific advances in production.
Therefore, every year, the Party Committee of the commune has directed each cadre and Party member in the entire Party Committee to promote their pioneering and exemplary role, actively taking the lead in developing the family economy, so that all people can learn and follow. Economic development projects such as expanding the area of fruit trees, developing farms, and testing new livestock breeds have all been successfully implemented. Bringing the income of the people to over 42 million VND/person/year.
Similarly, in Nghia Hoa commune, comrade Le Gia Quang - Secretary of the commune Party Committee said: "With the active participation in economic development of 127 party members in 6 hamlet party cells, the locality has successfully implemented many programs such as land consolidation, new rural construction and the formation of agricultural service cooperatives.
The commune has formed 7 effective agricultural specialized areas including wet rice specialized areas, specialized crop cultivation areas, livestock and poultry farming, aquaculture on dams, specialized fruit tree cultivation, specialized forest planting and enclosure. People's lives have been constantly improved with an average income of 38 million VND/person/year, the poverty rate has decreased to 2.5% (2018).

Regarding the issue of promoting the effective leading and exemplary role of party members on the poverty reduction front, Thai Hoa City Party Committee has directed each party cell to disseminate the resolution's content to each party member, helping them to fully understand their pioneering role in economic development. Each party member must truly become a core, promoting the exemplary role and taking the lead among the people.
To resolve difficulties and obstacles in economic development of each unit, the grassroots party committee must assign party committee members to attend monthly meetings with the party cell to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of cadres, party members, and people and have timely solutions.
"To achieve the goal of creating jobs and sustainably eliminating poverty set by the Resolution of the Thai Hoa Town Party Congress, the Party Committee has developed and issued many programs and resolutions to develop the local economy."

With many practical and meaningful actions, grassroots party members have affirmed their core role in all areas of social life, actively contributing to the implementation of socio-economic development goals of Thai Hoa Town. People's living standards have been increasingly improved, reaching over 38 million VND/person/year in 2018, an increase of 10.5% compared to 2017. Regarding the economic development production movement, the whole town has 2,010 households achieving the title of good production and business at all levels, an increase of more than 350 households compared to 2012.
