With nearly 29 points, the orphaned female student finds it difficult to "touch" her dream of going to university
(Baonghean.vn) - Having scored 28.55 points in the recent high school exam, Vo Thi Huong - an orphan girl from the rice fields of Yen Thanh (Nghe An) is facing the risk of missing her university entrance exam.
Overcoming circumstances
As the eldest child in a family of 5 children, Vo Thi Huong (born 2001), residing in Hamlet 10, Tho Thanh Commune (Yen Thanh) - a 12th grade student at Bac Yen Thanh High School, does not have the same favorable conditions to study as her peers.
However, being smart and eager to learn, Huong has proven her ability to her mother and everyone with impressive results in the recent high school graduation exam. Her admission score for block D78 (a new combination exam specializing in foreign languages) is 28.55 points (including: Literature: 9, English: 9.4, Social Sciences: 9.4 and plus 0.75 priority points). With such a high result, Huong is currently applying for admission to Hanoi University of Foreign Languages.

I thought that with such family circumstances, Huong's dream of becoming an interpreter would have to be put on hold, but Huong convinced her mother to let her continue studying, and her efforts in studying have now been duly rewarded.
Do dreams come true?
Sharing her study secrets, Huong said: “I only study at school, the rest of the time I mainly study at home, I do not attend exam preparation classes outside. In class, I try to concentrate on listening to the teachers to absorb knowledge, if I do not understand something, I discuss with the teachers, that way the knowledge will always be remembered.”

In her spare time, Huong also reads more books or researches documents. |
“Huong has always been a good student since she was little. So when I saw her love for studying so much, as a mother, if I forced her to drop out of school, I would feel so sorry for her. If she continued to go to school, I don’t know if I could take care of her,” the single woman confided with red eyes.
Ms. Hien was already in poor health so she could not do heavy work. Two years ago, she had to have surgery for a thyroid tumor, so her health was already poor and now it is even worse. However, now that she is both a father and a mother, she does not allow herself to rest. She does not have a stable job, after a period of working as a seamstress in a company with a small salary, she recently applied for a job at a restaurant in the district.
“If I work full time from morning to 11pm in a month, I earn 3,500,000 VND in salary. If I don’t work full time, I only earn about 3,000,000 VND, while there are many expensive expenses. Not to mention the upcoming new school year, I don’t know how I will manage to make ends meet when my children go to school.”

Mother goes to work, Huong takes care of her younger siblings and cooks for them every day. |
While Hien was at work, Huong replaced her mother at home to look after her younger siblings, cook, and teach them their lessons. Whenever she had free time, Huong read books and researched other reference materials to supplement her knowledge and life skills.
“Since grade 10, I have wanted to be a good interpreter in English or Chinese. Although I know there are many difficulties ahead, I will try harder to not disappoint my mother, who has sacrificed a lot for us.”
Hopefully, with Huong's burning dream, she will receive support from benefactors. To make her dream come true soon, that will be the greatest encouragement that she can give to her mother.
