The foreign language exam was not too difficult, candidates breathed a sigh of relief after completing the High School Graduation Exam.
This afternoon (June 28), more than 36,000 candidates across the province completed the final exam of the High School Graduation Exam - Foreign Language. As expected, this year's exam was not easy to get a score of 10.
At the exam site of Ha Huy Tap High School, candidate Nguyen Van Nam said that he had applied early and was admitted to the Banking Academy, so he was not under too much pressure with the final exam.
According to Nam, this year's Foreign Language exam was given according to the structure of the sample exam. Questions 1 to 35 are at a moderate level so that candidates can easily get points and the difficulty level of the exam starts from question 35 to differentiate candidates more clearly. With the reading comprehension part, I feel it is easier than last year's exam. With this exam, many candidates will easily get a score of 7.
Also at this test site, because English is a subject for university admission, candidate Mai Do Thuy Dung said: With this English test, students will easily get a score of 6-8, however, getting a score of 9-10 is really difficult because the test is highly differentiated. Personally, I hope to get 8-9 points to have the opportunity to be admitted to top schools.
Candidate Vuong Thi Thanh Huyen from Co Do High School commented: “I feel very happy to have completed the 2024 High School Graduation Exam. I found the English exam to be relatively moderate. Some questions were at a high application level such as idioms, fixed phrases... I did not do well because they were only for good and excellent students. I hope to get 6 points.”
After finishing the Foreign Language exam, at Anh Son 1 High School, many candidates walked out of the exam area with excited faces.
Student Hua Thi Khanh Linh said that the exam has 50 questions covering knowledge about phonetics, grammar, vocabulary, communication, writing skills, reading skills, of which basic knowledge accounts for about 2/3, so if you have a firm grasp of the knowledge in the curriculum, you can get a good score. "I think this year's exam is suitable for students. As an English major, I am very confident with my test results. Now that the exam is over, I feel relieved and eagerly await the results" - Linh added.
Student Tran Vinh Tu at the test site of Anh Son 3 High School said that in general, this year's test was close to the sample test, with quite clear differentiation. Most of the knowledge and vocabulary questions had been reviewed at school.
Tu said: "At level 7, just mastering the grammar and lessons in the program is not difficult to achieve. But the reading comprehension is difficult and there are many new words in the vocabulary section, starting from question 40 onwards, the difficulty increases gradually to classify students. I made the most of the test time and did it within the first 50 minutes. After 10 minutes, I carefully checked my test and "guessed" some difficult questions. I believe I will get about 7 points or more."

At the exam site of Con Cuong High School, candidate Lo Thi Hoa commented that this afternoon's exam was neither too easy nor too difficult for her. Hoa did not use her English exam score for university entrance, so she did not review much, so she commented: The first 20 questions in the exam are still relatively easy for those who pay attention to studying English at school. The next part began to have many difficult questions with increasing difficulty. But overall, she achieved her goal of not getting a failing score in this subject.

For me, this test is normal, the first questions are quite easy, only some vocabulary and new words are a bit difficult. I am confident that I can get over 8 points.
At the exam site of Dang Thuc Hua High School, Vo Liet Commune (Thanh Chuong), the last exam session took place in cool weather conditions (thunderstorms). After the exam, candidates rushed out of the school gate in a happy and excited mood because they had finished the test.
Tran Dinh Bao, a student of class 12B, happily shared: The English multiple-choice test this afternoon was quite “easy”, close to the general education program. Thanks to diligent review, I did well on the test. Out of 50 multiple-choice questions, I am sure I got 43 of them completely correct, and I circled the remaining questions based on my preferences. I predict that my test will score 8 or higher.
At the Quy Chau High School exam site, candidates at this exam site said that the grammar questions fall into the 12th grade English program and if they study the textbooks carefully, they can still get points. However, the exam has many differentiating questions, falling into the vocabulary and idioms section.
Candidate Nguyen Khoi Nguyen, who took the provincial English exam, said: For me, this test was not too difficult. The differentiation questions were about 25% of the total 60 questions. I am sure I will get 8.5-9 points.
According to the report of the Examination Council of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, in the 2024 High School Graduation Exam, only 1 candidate violated the exam regulations (bringing a phone into the exam area, at Huynh Thuc Khang High School exam site). Security and safety were ensured, no unusual incidents occurred at the exam sites. The exam took place normally, safely, and in accordance with regulations.
