Nearly 1,400 candidates from Nghe An are exempted from the foreign language exam.
This afternoon (June 28), candidates will take the Foreign Language exam, the final exam of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam. At the Nghe An exam site, candidates will choose many Foreign Language subjects to register for the exam.
According to the Department of Education and Training, in the Foreign Language exam, Nghe An province has 33,678 candidates registered for the English exam, 23 candidates registered for the French exam, 64 candidates registered for the Chinese exam, 9 candidates registered for the German exam, 1 candidate registered for the Japanese exam and 16 candidates registered for the Korean exam; no candidates registered for the Russian exam.

Previously, through synthesis, the whole province had 1,389 candidates exempted from the Foreign Language exam. According to regulations, the first exempted candidates are members of the national team participating in the International Olympic competition in Foreign Language according to the Decision of the Minister of Education and Training.
The second exemption is for candidates who have one of the foreign language certificates prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training or foreign language certificates recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training equivalent to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam (level 3 or higher). The foreign language certificate must be valid until the date of the exam. If the candidate has an IELTS certificate, it will be counted as a candidate with a certificate of 4.0 or higher.
Candidates exempted from the Foreign Language exam will be given 10 points for this exam to be considered for recognition of high school graduation.

The Foreign Language Test of the High School Graduation Exam is a 60-minute multiple-choice test. This is also the final exam, and Foreign Language is a compulsory subject of the High School Graduation Exam. From next year, Foreign Language will be an optional subject, in addition to the three compulsory subjects of Math, Literature, and History.
