By 2030, Nghe An province will have 5,000 rural industrial and handicraft establishments.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 10th, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a meeting to discuss the revised and supplementary plan for rural industries and occupations up to 2020 with a vision to 2030.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - chaired the meeting. Representatives from the following departments attended: Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Natural Resources and Environment, Construction, Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, and Planning and Investment.

According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province currently has 33,271 rural businesses, including 139 craft villages specializing in processing forest and aquatic products, producing building materials, rattan and bamboo weaving, mechanics, brocade weaving, and stone carving.

Currently, there are three districts without traditional craft villages: Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, and Quy Hop. These craft villages have provided employment for over 70,000 workers, with the average income for workers in these villages currently reaching 3-4 million VND per person per month.

During the period 2010-2016, the production value of rural industries reached approximately 14 trillion VND, achieving 86% of the plan.

However, rural industries in the past period still have some shortcomings and limitations: The policy on supporting the development of rural industries according to Circular No. 112 of the Ministry of Finance has not truly reached the establishments and workers. The links between establishments and scientists, investors and the market are not closely connected; technology and equipment are outdated, and production efficiency is low…

Comrade Thai Van Nong - Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, suggested that the report should include specific planning and orientation for each local industry and profession; and that specific support policies should be developed for rural industries and professions.

At the meeting, delegates agreed to adjust several key points: The target for the 2016-2020 period is a production value growth rate of 14-14.5% per year; the number of rural industrial and handicraft establishments will reach 38,100, creating jobs for 82,000 to 85,000 workers, with an average worker income of 5-6 million VND/person/month.

By 2030, the growth rate of production value will reach 12% per year, with 45,000-50,000 rural industrial establishments, creating jobs for approximately 120,000-150,000 workers, and an average income of 7-8 million VND per person per month.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to incorporate the members' opinions to further refine the report.The plan was submitted to the Provincial People's Committee in February 2017. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee further emphasized: The implementation roadmap needs to include a forecast plan for each year; the implementation solutions must pay special attention to environmental issues.
