Due to the impact of the low pressure trough moving from China, the North today experienced widespread showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in many places such as Tuyen Quang 110 mm, Dinh Hoa (Thai Nguyen) 80 mm, Vinh Yen (Vinh Phuc) 60 mm.

Hanoi also had heavy thunderstorms at midnight, with rainfall of 20-30 mm. The rain dispelled the heat, the temperature in the North decreased by 5-7 degrees compared to yesterday, the highest temperature in Hanoi today was 32 degrees, at night it was 25-27 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological forecasting agency said that tonight and tomorrow the North will continue to be affected by the low pressure trough. The low pressure trough will then connect with the low pressure area in the northern East Sea, forming a new low pressure trough with a Northwest - Southeast axis.

Under the impact of this new low pressure trough, the North will experience continuous thunderstorms in the next 2-3 days, especially in the mountainous and midland areas, with heavy rain, concentrated at night and in the morning. People in Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, and Bac Kan provinces should be on the lookout for flash floods and landslides.

The temperature in the North will be generally pleasant all week, only 31-33 degrees Celsius. By the end of the week, the rain will decrease, the weather will be sunny and hot again around July 6.

The Central region will have showers in the North from tonight, tomorrow the temperature will decrease by 1-3 degrees, the highest is 35-37 degrees, the western mountainous region may be over 38 degrees. By July 2, the Central region will have showers and thunderstorms in the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue, the hot area will only occur from Da Nang to Binh Thuan.

By July 3, the heat wave will completely end in the Central region and will become hot again on July 6.

The Central Highlands and the South are affected by the strong southwest monsoon, so from now until the end of the week, there will continue to be showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon. The daytime temperature in the Central Highlands is around 30-33 degrees Celsius, and in the South, it is commonly 32-34 degrees Celsius.

Low lying area appears in the northern East Sea

This afternoon, a low pressure area appeared in the sea north of Hoang Sa archipelago, forecast to barely move in the next 24 hours, causing thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind level 6-7 in the northern East Sea (including the sea north of Hoang Sa archipelago).

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that in the next 24-48 hours, the low pressure area may strengthen into a tropical depression, moving west-northwest. At 1:00 p.m. on July 2, the center of the tropical depression was over the sea east of Hainan Island (China), with the strongest wind speed of 60 km/h (level 6-7), gusting to level 9.

With the formation and development right in the East Sea in a short time and the combination of factors such as high sea surface temperature, interaction with weather systems on the continent, the development of the low pressure area will be complicated, with the possibility of moving towards the mainland of Vietnam.

Previously, from June 25 to 28, the North experienced a heat wave. The heat center was Hoa Binh and the Northern Delta, the highest temperature in Hanoi reached 40.

Since June 4, the Central region has been experiencing continuous heat waves of 36-39 degrees Celsius, with the peak temperature on June 22 in Con Cuong (Nghe An) reaching 43 degrees Celsius. Forest fires have broken out in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, and Da Nang. Many areas of rice and crops have dried up and died, disrupting people's lives.
