(Baonghean.vn) - Having existed for a long time, Mo communal house in Hau Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) - a national historical relic is seriously degraded and needs to be restored and renovated.

Mo Communal House was built by the people of Duc Hau village, Giai Lac commune (now Hau Thanh commune) in the 17th century to worship the village's tutelary god and other gods who had contributed to the village and the country. In 1884, the communal house was built on a large scale with 3 large houses. In 1887, the French colonialists attacked the village and burned the communal house. In 1912, the communal house was rebuilt. Previously, Mo Communal House was located in the middle of a low-lying field, often flooded during heavy rains. For Hau Thanh people, Mo communal house is not only a sacred place of worship and a place for village community activities, but also a witness to many historical events that took place in the locality:

During the Can Vuong movement against the French, Mr. Nguyen Xuan On and Mr. Le Doan Nha chose the Mo communal house area as their headquarters. After the August Revolution, Mo communal house was the place where the first popular education class was opened in the region. Currently, Mo Communal House relic has 4 structures: the worshiping hall, the rear palace, the left wing and the right wing. The worshiping hall has 3 compartments and 2 wings, is more than 15 m long, has a tam oai structure with traditional mortise and tenon technique, and is covered with yin and yang tiles. The worshiping house and the back palace have many pillars and walls hollowed out by termites, the foundation and walls of the communal house have many large cracks, the roof has many damaged and leaking areas. The most seriously damaged are the two buildings of the left and right wings. In recent times, to preserve and use them, the local government has covered the roof of the wing with tarpaulin.
